TITLE:  Official Description Change: Iowa 171, Tama County

 

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 171 begins in the City of Elberon and proceeds east to a junction with Iowa 21 approximately one‑half mile east of the City of Elberon at the Tama‑Benton County line.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑171‑0(4)‑‑2M‑86, between the City of Elberon and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 171 from Second Street north, east and northeast to the east corporation line of Elberon to city jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑171‑0(3)‑‑2M‑86, between Tama County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 171 from the east corporation line of the City of Elberon east to a junction with Iowa 21 at the Tama‑Benton County line near the NE Corner Section 13‑T83N‑R13W to county jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Iowa 171 in Tama County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 171 and its extension in Tama County as follows:

 

Elberon:

 

Beginning on an unnamed street at Second Street; thence northerly, easterly, and northeasterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Beginning on the east corporation line of the City of Elberon connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Section 13‑T83N‑R13W to the Tama‑Benton County line at a point near the NE Corner Section 13‑T83N‑R13W Tama County (NW Corner Section 18‑T83N‑R12W Benton County) (junction Iowa 21).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 171 begins in Elberon, and travels generally easterly approximately 1 mile to the Tama‑Benton County line.

 

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 171 in Tama County be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 171 in Tama County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Locate Iowa 171 and its extension in Tama County as follows:

 

Elberon:

 

Beginning on an unnamed street at Second Street; thence northerly, easterly, and north­easterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Beginning on the east corporation line of the City of Elberon connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Section 13­-T83N‑R13W to the Tama‑Benton County line at a point near the NE Corner Section 13-T83N-­R13W Tama County (NW Corner Section 18‑T83N‑R12W Benton County) (junction Iowa 21).
