Beginning on the Shelby‑Harrison County line at a point approximately ¼ mile south of the NW Corner of Section 18‑T81N‑R40W, Shelby County (NE Corner of Section 13‑T81N‑R41W, Harrison County); thence in an easterly and southeasterly direction through Sections 18 and 19‑T81N‑R40W, and in an easterly, southeasterly, easterly, and southeasterly direction through Sections 20, 21, 28 and 27‑T81N‑R40W, to a point approximately 800 feet north of the E ¼ Corner of Section 27‑T81N‑R40W; thence south following substantially the section line of Sections 26 and 35‑T81N‑R40W to a point approximately 800 feet north of the W ¼ Corner Section 35‑T81N‑R40W; thence in a southeasterly direction through said Section 35 to a point approximately 1,100 feet west of the SE Corner of Section 35‑T81N‑R40W; thence east following substantially the section line of Sections 2 and 1‑T80N‑R40W and Section 6‑T80N‑R39W to a point approximately 100 feet west of the S ¼ Corner of Section 31‑T81N‑R39W; thence in a southeasterly direction through Section 6‑T80N‑R39W to the west corporation line of Earling, connecting with Railroad Street.

 

Earling:

 

Beginning on Railroad Street at the west corporation line; thence southeasterly and northeasterly on Railroad Street to the east corporation line.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 37 begins on the Shelby‑Harrison County line approximately two miles south of the NW corner of Shelby County, and travels generally southeasterly and easterly via Earling and Irwin to a point in Irwin, Iowa.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑37‑0 (10) between Shelby County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, and transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑37‑0 (9) between the City of Irwin and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 37 from US 59 near the NE Corner Section 2‑T80N‑R39W easterly to Ellen Street in the City of Irwin to local jurisdiction on August 16, 1982.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended to approve deleting the present description of Iowa 37 in Shelby

County from the primary road system and approve including the attached new description of Iowa 37 in the primary road system.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 37 in Shelby County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 37 in Shelby County be deleted and the non description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
