DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:
Due
to a Staff Action taken by the Iowa State Highway Commission in August of 1968,
the official description of Iowa
85 should be changed.
Iowa 85 begins at east corporation line
of Montezuma; thence heads easterly and southeasterly to Deep River; thence southeasterly
and easterly to junction Iowa
21.
PROPOSAL/ACTION
RECOMMENDATION:
It
is recommended the old description of Iowa 85
in Poweshiek County be deleted from the Primary Road
System and the new description, as described in the attachment, be included in the Primary Road System.
New Description - Iowa
85 and its extensions in Poweshiek
County described as
follows:
Beginning on the east corporation line of Montezuma
connecting with Main Street;
thence easterly through the south part of Sections 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1-T78N-R14W
and Section 6-T78N-R13W to a point approximately ¼ mile north of the S ¼ Corner
Section 6-T78N-R13W; thence in a northeasterly, easterly and southeasterly
direction through Sections 6 and 5-T78N-R13W to the north corporation line of Deep River, connecting with an unnamed street.
Deep River:
Beginning on an unnamed street at the north corporation
line; thence southeasterly on an unnamed street to the intersection of Church
Street and 4th Street; thence south on 4th Street to Main Street; thence southeasterly
on unnamed street to the south corporation line.
Beginning again on the south corporation line of Deep
Rover connecting with an unnamed street; thence southeasterly and easterly
through Section 9-T78N-R13W to a point approximately 950 feet north of the
center of Section 9-T78N-R13W; thence easterly through Section 9-T78N-R13W to a
point approximately 950 feet north of the E ¼ Corner Section 9-T78N-R13W (junction

travels generally easterly via Montezuma and Deep River to Iowa
21 approximately 1 mile southeast of Deep
River, Iowa.

on an unnamed street at Front
