DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑926‑0(2)‑77 between the Iowa Department of Transportation and Polk County and transfer of jurisdiction agreement number 87‑3‑114 between the City of Altoona and the Iowa Department of Transportation transferred Iowa 926 to local jurisdiction on October 28, 1988.

The official description of Iowa 926 in Polk County and in the City of Altoona should be deleted to reflect these transfers.

Iowa 926 begins at the junction of US 65 and travels east to the east corporate limits of Altoona.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to approve deleting the description of Iowa 926 in Polk County and the City of Altoona from the Primary Road System.

Beginning at a point approximately one‑quarter mile east of the NW Corner Section 22‑T79N‑R23W (junction US 6 and 65); thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 22 and 23‑T79N‑R23W to the west corporation line of Altoona connecting with an unnamed street.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Unsigned Iowa 926 begins at a junction with US 6 and US 65 approximately one mile west of the City of Altoona, and proceeds easterly via the City of Altoona to the Polk‑Jasper County line near the City of Mitchellville.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑06‑04(72), between Polk County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of unsigned Iowa 926 from the east corporation line of the City of Altoona near the N ¼ Corner Section 19-T79N‑R23W easterly to the west corporation line of the City of Mitchellville near the SW Corner Section 13‑T79N‑R22W, and from the east corporation line of the City of Mitchellville approximately 1530 feet south of the N ¼ Corner Section 13‑T79N‑R23W northeasterly and easterly to the Polk‑Jasper county line near the NE Corner Section 13‑T79N‑R22W to county jurisdiction on January 1, 1981.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑06‑4(72), between Polk County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, and transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑06‑0(74), between the City of Mitchellville and the Iowa Department of Transportation transferred that portion of unsigned Iowa 926 from near the SW Corner Section 13‑T79N‑R22W easterly and northerly along the corporate limits of the City of Mitchellville to approximately 1530 feet south of the N ¼ Corner Section 13‑T79N‑R22W to local jurisdiction on March 9, 1981.

As of 12-17-82, highway is actually in Altoona 6 times (city base map is wrong), but Mills is trying to get Altoona to annex to status shown by map. Check later.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the present description of unsigned Iowa 926 in Polk County from the primary road system and approve including the attached new description of unsigned Iowa 926 in the primary road system.
