New Description ‑ Iowa 44 and its extension in Polk County described as follows:

Beginning on the Polk‑Dallas County line at a point near the NW Corner Section 6‑T79N‑R25W, Polk County (NE Corner Section 1‑T79N‑R26W, Dallas County); thence east following substantially the section line of Section 6‑T79N‑R25W to the west corporation line of Grimes, connecting with 1st Street.

Grimes:

Beginning on 1st Street at the west corporation line; thence east on 1st Street to the east corporation line.

Beginning again on the east corporation line of Grimes connecting with 1st Street; thence east following substantially the section line of Section 5‑T79N‑R25W (junction Iowa 141) and Section 4‑T79N‑R25W to a point approximately 350 feet east of the NW Corner Section 4‑T79N‑R25W (east ramps of Iowa 44 and Iowa 141 interchange).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 44 in Polk County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

Iowa 44 begins on the Polk‑Dallas County line approximately 12 miles south of the NW Corner of Polk County and travels easterly via Grimes to a junction with Iowa 141.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 44 and its extension in Polk County as follows:

Beginning on the Polk‑Dallas County line at a point near the NW Corner Section 6‑T79N-R25W, Polk County (NE Corner Section 1‑T79N‑R26W, Dallas County); thence east following substantially the section line of Section 6‑T79N‑R25W to the west corporation line of the City of Grimes connecting with an unnamed street.

Grimes:

Beginning on the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning again on the east corporation line of the City of Grimes and connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Section 5‑T79N‑R25W to a point (junction Iowa 141) near the NE Corner Section 5‑T79N‑R25W, Polk County, Iowa.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 44 in Polk County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
