DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number 93-TJ-002, between Iowa Department of Transportation and Palo Alto County, transferred a section of old Iowa 341 from the county to the Department of Transportation on September 30, 1993.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the new description as described in the attachment, be included in the Primary Road System.

New Description - Iowa 341 in Palo Alto County described as follows:

Beginning at a point (junction US 18) approximately 300 feet south and 700 feet west of the NE Corner Section 19-T96N-R34W: thence northerly through said Section 19 to the south corporation line of Ruthven connecting with Gowrie Street.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑341‑0 (3)‑74, between the Iowa Department of Transportation, Palo Alto County and the City of Ruthven, transferred Iowa 341 to local jurisdiction on June 8, 1988. The present description of Iowa 341 should be deleted to reflect this change.

Iowa 341 begins at US 218 South of Ruthven and travels northerly through Ruthven to the entrance of Lost Island State Park.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to approve deleting the description of Iowa 341 and its extension in Palo Alto County from the primary road system.

Old Description - Iowa 341 and its extension in Palo Alto County described as follows:

Beginning at a point (junction US 18) approximately 300 feet south and 700 feet west of the NE Corner Section 19-T96N-R34W; thence northerly through said Section 19 to the south corporation line of Ruthven connecting with Gowrie Street.

Ruthven:

Beginning on Gowrie Street at the south corporation line; the northerly on Gowrie Street to the north corporation line.

Beginning again on the north corporation line of Ruthven and connecting with Gowrie Street; thence northeasterly through Section 18-T96N-R34W to a point approximately 950 feet south of the NE Corner Section 18-T96N-R34W; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Section 17 and 8-T96N-R34W to a point near the NW Corner Section 8-T96N-R34W (Lost Island State Park).

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records, Iowa 341 in Palo Alto County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

Iowa 341 begins at a junction with US 18 just south of Ruthven, and travels northerly approximately 2 miles via the city of Ruthven to the south entrance of Lost Island State Park.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 341 and its extension in Palo Alto County as follows:

Beginning at a point (junction US 18) approximately 300 feet south and 700 feet west of the NE Corner Section 19‑T96N‑R34W; thence northerly through said Section 19 to the south corporation line of the City of Ruthven and connecting with an unnamed street.

Ruthven:

Beginning on the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly and northeasterly to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning again on the north corporation line of the City of Ruthven connecting with an unnamed street; thence northeasterly through Section 18‑T96N‑R34W to a point approximately 950 feet south of the NE Corner Section 18‑T96N‑R34W; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Sections 17 and 8‑T96N‑R34W to a point near the NW Corner Section 8‑T96N‑R34W (Lost Island State Park).

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 341 in Palo Alto County, Iowa.
