Beginning on the north corporation line of Braddyville connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Sections 30, 19, and 18‑T67N‑R36W to a point approximately 3,800 feet north of the SW Corner Section 18‑T67N‑R36W; thence northerly through the east part of Sections 13, 12, and 1‑T67N‑R37W to a point approximately 1,480 feet north of the SE Corner Section 1‑T76N‑R37W; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Section 6‑T67N‑R36W and Section 31‑T68N‑R36W to the east corporation line of Shambaugh connecting with Cinder Alley Road.

 

Shambaugh:

 

Beginning on Cinder Alley Road at the east corporation line; thence northwesterly on Cinder Alley Road; to the north corporation line.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records, US 71 in Page County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

US 71 begins on the Iowa‑Missouri State line in Braddyville, Iowa and travels generally northeasterly via Braddyville, Shambaugh and Clarinda, to the Page‑Montgomery County line approximately 3 miles west of the NE Corner of Page County, Iowa.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

Locate US 71 and its extensions in Page County as follows:

 

Braddyville:

 

Beginning at the Iowa‑Missouri State line on an unnamed street; thence northerly to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Beginning on the north corporation line of the city of Braddyville connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Section 30‑T67N‑R36W to a point (junction Iowa 333) near the NW Corner Section 30‑T67N‑R36W; thence northerly following substantially the sec­tion line of Sections 19 and 18‑T67N‑R36W to a point approximately 3800 feet north of the SW Corner Section 18‑T67N‑R36W; thence northerly through the east part of Sections 13, 12, and 1‑T67N‑R37W to a point approximately 1480 feet north of the SE Corner Section 1‑T67N‑R37W; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Section 6‑T67N‑R36W and Section 31‑T68N‑R36W to the east corporation line of the City of Shambaugh connecting with an unnamed street.

Commencing on an unnamed street at the south corporation line; thence in a northerly direction on unnamed street to the north corporation line.

 

Beginning at the north corporation line of the Town of Braddyville, connecting with an unnamed street; thence north following substantially the section line to a point approximately 700 feet south of the NE Corner Section 1-T67N-R37W; thence northerly to the south corporation line of the Town of Shambaugh connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Shambaugh:

 

Commencing on an unnamed street at the east corporation line; thence northwesterly on unnamed street to the north corporation line.

 

Beginning again on the north corporation line of the Town of Shambaugh connecting with an unnamed street; thence northwesterly through Section 36 and 25‑T68N‑R37W, to a point approximately 240 feet south of the W ¼ Corner SE ¼ Section 25-T68N‑R37W; thence north through the center of Section 25, 24, 13 and 12‑T68N‑R37W to the south corporation line of the City of Clarinda connecting with 16th Street.

Commencing on 16th Street at the south corporation line; thence north on 16th Street to unnamed street; thence northeasterly on unnamed street to the east corporation line.

 

Beginning again on the east corporation line of the City of Clarinda connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 740 feet south of the N ¼ Corner SW ¼ Section 32‑T69N‑R36W; thence in a southeasterly direction to a point approximately 490 feet west of the center SE ¼ Section 32‑T69N‑R36W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction through Section 32, 29, 28, 21, 16 and 9‑T69N‑R36W to a point approximately 490 feet north of the E ¼ Corner SW ¼ Section 9‑T69N‑R36W; thence north following substantially the section line to the Page‑Montgomery County line at a point near the NE Corner Section 4‑T70N‑R36W, Page County (SE Corner Section 33‑T71N‑R36W, Montgomery County).

 

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa State Highway Com­mission approve the location of US 71 and its Extensions in Page County, Iowa.

 

NOTE: The following sections of Old US 71 will revert to the Page County Secondary System in accordance with Section 313.2, Code of Iowa:

 

Station 269+83.50 to 351+30.00

Station 993+74.00 to 1041+00.00

 

The Extension of US 71 in Shambaugh and Clarinda will revert to Local Street Systems in accordance with Urban Policy 2600‑00l‑E7.
