DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number 2003-TJ-020, between Muscatine County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred those portions of unsigned Iowa 421 from New Era Road (south junction US 34) (near the S ¼ Corner Section 18-T77N-R1W), then northwest and northeast approximately 1500 feet following alongside US 34 to a dead end; again 1100 feet south and 1850 feet southeast of the NW Corner Section 17-T77N-R1W (dead end), then northeast approximately 2250 feet intersecting with Taylor (a secondary road); and again approximately 1300 feet east and 910 feet north of the SW Corner Section 36-T78N-R1E (dead end), then southeasterly to a point near the S ¼ Corner SE ¼ Section 36-T78N-R1E, then east following substantially the section line of Section 1-T77N-R1E to the Muscatine-Scott County line at a point near the SE Corner Section 36-T78N-R1E, Muscatine County (SW Corner Section 31-T78N-R2E, Scott County) to county jurisdiction on June 6, 2003.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended to approve deleting the present description of unsigned Iowa 421 and its extensions in Muscatine County from the Primary Road System.

New Description - Unsigned Iowa 421 and its extensions in Muscatine County described as follows:

 

Beginning at the south junction US 34 (a point near the S ¼ Corner Section 18-T77N-R1W); then northwest and northeast approximately 1500 feet following alongside US 34 to a dead end.

 

Beginning again 1100 feet south and 1850 feet southeast of the NW Corner Section 17-T77N-R1W (dead end); then northeast approximately 2250 feet intersecting with Taylor (a secondary road).

 

Beginning again approximately 1300 feet east and 910 feet north of the SW Corner Section 36-T78N-R1E (dead end); then southeasterly to a point near the S ¼ Corner SE ¼ Section 36-T78N-R1E; then east following substantially the section line of Section 1-T77N-R1E to the Muscatine-Scott County line at a point near the SE Corner Section 36-T78N-R1E, Muscatine County (SW Corner Section 31-T78N-R2E, Scott County).

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of Unsigned Iowa 421 and its extensions in Muscatine County be deleted and the new description be included in the Primary Road System.
