DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 120 begins in the City of Stanton and travels northerly to a junction with US 34 approximately 475 feet north of the City of Stanton.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement no. TJ‑120‑0(1)‑‑2M‑69, between the City of Stanton and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 120 from Frankfort Street north and northeasterly to the east corporation line of Stanton to city jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement no. TJ‑120‑0(2)‑‑2M‑69, between Montgomery County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 120 from the east corporation line of the City of Stanton northerly to a junction with US 34 at a point approximately 1,233 feet north of the SW Corner of Section 34‑T72N‑R34W to county jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Iowa 120 in Montgomery County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 120 and its extension in Montgomery County as follows:

Stanton:

Beginning on unnamed street at Lower Street; thence generally northeasterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning on the east corporation line of the City of Stanton connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Section 34‑T72N‑R37W to a point approximately 1,233 feet north of the SW Corner Section 34‑T72N‑R37W (junction US 34).

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 120 in Montgomery County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

Iowa 120 begins in the City of Stanton and travels northeasterly to US 34.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 120 and its extension in Montgomery County as follows:

Stanton:

Beginning on unnamed street at Lower Street; thence generally northeasterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning on the east corporation line of the City of Stanton connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Section 34‑T72N‑R37W to a point approximately 1,233 feet north of the SW Corner Section 34‑T72N‑R37W (junction US 34).

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 120 in Montgomery County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
