DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Due to construction on Iowa 5 in 1995, a small section of Iowa 5 was relocated in 1995. At the same time the old section of Iowa 5 became Iowa 915.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the old description of Iowa 5 in Monroe County be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description, as described in the attachment, be included in the Primary Road System.

 

New Description - Iowa 5 and its extensions in Monroe County described as follows:

 

Beginning on the Monroe-Appanoose County line at a point 75 feet west of the SE Corner  Section 32-T71N-Rl7W Monroe County (NE Corner of Section 5-T70N-Rl7W Appanoose County); thence in a northerly direction through Sections 32, 33 and 28-T71N-Rl7W to a point approximately 1,450 feet north and 200 feet east of the SW Corner of Section 28-T71N-Rl7W; thence northwesterly through Sections 28, 29, 20 and 17-T71N-Rl7W to a point approximately 650 feet north of the center of the SE ¼ of Section 17-T71N-Rl7W; thence northeasterly through Sections 17, 16, 9 and 4-T71N-Rl7W and Sections 33, 28 and 27-T72N-Rl7W to the south corporation line of Albia, connecting with Clinton Street.

 

Albia:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records Iowa 5 in Monroe County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

Iowa 5 begins on the Monroe‑Appanoose County line approximately at the NW Corner of the City of Moravia, and travels northeasterly and northwesterly via the City of Albia and Lovilia, to the Monroe‑Marion County line approximately 12 miles north of Lovilia, Iowa.
