TITLE: Official Description Change: Iowa 255, Mitchell County

 

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 255 begins in Orchard, Iowa and travels easterly terminating at the junction of US 218 approximately two miles east of Orchard, Iowa.

 

Due to transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑255‑0 (2) ‑‑2M‑66 between the City of Orchard and the Iowa Department of Transportation approved May 2, 1980, that portion of Iowa 255 from the Illinois Central Railway easterly to the east corpora­tion line should be deleted from the primary road system and reverted to the City street system of Orchard effective July 1, 1980.

 

Due to transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑255‑0 (1) ‑‑2M‑66 between Mitchell County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, that portion of Iowa 255 from the east corporation line of Orchard near the NW Corner Section 17‑T97N‑R16W easterly to US 218 near the NE Corner Section 16‑T97N‑R16W should be deleted from the primary road system and reverted to the Mitchell County secondary road system effective July 1, 1980.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the description of Iowa 255 in Mitchell County, as referred to in the attached detailed description, be deleted from the primary road system.

 

Remove Iowa 255 and its extension in Mitchell County as follows:

 

Orchard:

 

Beginning at the Illinois Central Railroad, connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Beginning on the east corporation line of the City of Orchard connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 17 and 16‑T97N‑R17W (junction of US 218) at a point near the NE Corner of Section 16‑T97N‑R17W.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 255 in Mitchell County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

 

Iowa 255 begins in Orchard, Iowa and travels easterly terminating at the junction of US 218 approximately 2 miles east of Orchard, Iowa.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

Locate Iowa 255 and its extension in Mitchell County as follows:

 

Orchard:

 

Beginning at the Illinois Central Railroad, connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Beginning on the east corporation line of the City of Orchard connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 17 and 16‑T97N‑R17W (junction of US 218) at a point near the NE Corner of Section 16‑T97N‑R17W.

 

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 255 in Mitchell County, Iowa.

 

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
