DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑227‑0(6,7)‑‑2M‑66 between the Iowa Department of Transportation, Mitchell County and the City of Stacyville transferred Iowa 227 to county and city jurisdiction on May 10, 1991. The official description of Iowa 227 should be deleted from the Primary Road System to reflect this transfer.

Iowa 227 begins at its junction with US 218 and extends north, east and north into the City of Stacyville.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to approve deleting the description of Iowa 227 in Mitchell County from the Primary Road System.

Old description ‑ Iowa 227 in Mitchell County and its extension in Stacyville described as follows:

Beginning at a point approximately 1,100 feet southwest of the E ¼ Corner of Section 23‑T99N‑R17W (junction of US 218); thence in a northerly direction through Sections 23 and 24‑T99N‑R17W to a point approximately 1,150 feet south of the NW Corner of Section 24‑T99N‑R17W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 1,100 feet east of the NW Corner of Section 24‑T99N‑R17W; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Section 24‑T99N‑R17W and Section 19‑T99N‑R16W to a point approximately 800 feet east of the NW Corner of Section 19-T99N‑R16W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction through Section 18‑T99N‑R16W to a point approximately 1,050 feet north of the S ¼ Corner of Section 18‑T99N‑R16W; thence northerly following substantially the center section line of Sections 18, 7, and 6‑T99N‑R16W and Section 31‑T100N‑R16W to the south corporation line of Stacyville connecting with Broad Street.

Stacyville:

Beginning on Broad Street at the south corporation line; thence north on Broad Street to College Street.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 227 in Mitchell County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

Iowa 227 begins at the junction of US 218 approximately 6 miles north of Osage, Iowa and travels in a northeasterly direction terminating in Stacyville, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 227 and its extension in Mitchell County as follows:

Beginning at a point approximately 800 feet south of the W ¼ Corner of Section 24‑T99N‑R17W (junction of US 218); thence northerly following substantially the section line of Section 24‑T99N‑R17W to a point approximately 1150 feet south of the NW Corner of Section 24‑T99N‑R17W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 1100 feet east of the NW Corner of Section 24‑T99N‑R17W; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Section 24‑T99N‑R17W and Section 19‑T99N‑R16W to a point approximately 800 feet east of the NW Corner of Section 19‑T99N‑R16W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction through Section 18‑T99N‑R16W to a point approximately 1050 feet north of the S ¼ Corner of Section 18‑T99N‑R16W; thence northerly following substantially the center section line of Sections 18, 7, and 6‑T99N‑R16W and Section 31‑T100N‑R16W to the south corporation line of the City of Stacyville connecting with an unnamed street.

Stacyville:

Beginning on the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly to the south line of College Street.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 227 in Mitchell County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
