DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

To maintain continuity in the primary route numbering system with the State of Neb­raska, that portion of Unsigned Iowa 935 from the Iowa‑Nebraska State line in the SW ¼ of Section 11‑T73N‑R44W, northeasterly to the east ramps of Interstate 29 in the SW ¼ of Section 5‑T73N‑R43W should be re-designated as Iowa 370.

 

Iowa 370 begins at the Iowa‑Nebraska State line approximately 1 ½ miles south of the NW Corner of Mills County, and travels in a northeasterly direction approximately three and one‑half miles to the east ramps of Interstate 29.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that Iowa 370 in Mills County (see attached description) be included in the primary road system.

 

Locate Iowa 370 in Mills County as follows:

 

Beginning at the Iowa‑Nebraska State line; thence in a northeasterly direc­tion through Sections 11, 2, and 1‑T73N‑R44W to a point near the center of the SW ¼ of Section 1‑T73N‑R44W; thence easterly following substantially the S ¼ section line of Section 1‑T73N‑R44W and Sections 6 and 5‑T73N‑R43W (center of Interstate 29 interchange) to a point approximately 1,350 feet north and 900 feet east of the SW Corner Section 5‑T73N‑R43W (east ramps of Interstate 29).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 370 begins on the Iowa‑Nebraska state line approximately two miles south of the NW corner of Mills County, and travels generally northeasterly to the Mills‑Pottawattamie county line approximately four miles east of the NW corner of Mills County.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑370‑0(2), between Pottawattamie County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred Iowa 370 in Pottawattamie County to county jurisdiction on October 6, 1980. To maintain continuity in the Iowa route numbering system Iowa 370 in Mills County should be re-designated as Unsigned Iowa 935.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the present description of Iowa 370 in Mills County from the primary road system.

 

Remove Iowa 370 in Mills County as follows:

 

Beginning at the Iowa‑Nebraska State line; thence in a northeasterly direction through Sections 11, 2, and 1‑T73N‑R44W to a point near the center of the SW ¼ of Section 1‑T73N‑R44W; thence easterly following substantially the S ¼ section line of Section 1-T73N-­R44W and Sections 6 and 5‑T73N‑R43W to a point approximately 1350 feet north and 300 feet east of the SW Corner Section 5‑T73N‑R43W (junction Inter­state 29); thence easterly following substantially the S ¼ section line said Section 5 to a point in the SE ¼ of Section 5‑T73N‑R43W; thence in a northeasterly direction through Sections 5 and 4‑T73N‑R43W to a point on the Mills‑Pottawattamie County line approximately 500 feet east of the NW Corner of said Section 4‑T73N‑R43W, Mills County (SW Corner Section 33‑T74N‑R43W, Pottawattamie County).

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 370 in Mills County should be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

 

Iowa 370 begins at the Iowa‑Nebraska State line approximately 1 ½ miles south of the NW Corner of Mills County, and travels in a northeasterly direction to the Mills‑Pottawattamie County line approximately 4 miles east of the NW Corner of Mills County, Iowa.
