TITLE:  Iowa 244, Mills County

 

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 244 begins in the City of Henderson and travels generally northerly and easterly to US 59 approximately one and one‑half miles northeast of the City of Henderson.

 

Due to a transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑244‑0 (2) ‑‑2M‑55 between the City of Henderson and the Iowa Department of Transportation, that portion of Iowa 244 from Oak St. westerly and northerly to the north corporation line was transferred to city jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

 

Due to a transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑244‑0 (2) ‑‑2M‑55 between Mills County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, that portion of Iowa 244 from the north corporation line of the City of Henderson northeasterly and easterly to US 59 approximately one and one‑half miles northeast of the City of Henderson was transferred to county jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the description of Iowa 244 in Mills County, as attached, be deleted from the primary road system.

 

Remove Iowa 244 and its extension in Mills County as follows:

 

Henderson:

 

Beginning on an unnamed street at Oak Street; thence west and north to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Beginning on the north corporation line of the City of Henderson connecting with an unnamed street; thence curving in a northeasterly direction through Section 10‑T73N‑R40W to a point approximately 1,300 feet west of the NE Corner said Section 10; thence east following substantially the section line of Section 10 and 11‑T73N‑R40W to a point near the NE Corner Section 11‑T73N‑R40W (junction US 59).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records, Iowa 244 in Mills County should be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

 

Iowa 244 begins in Henderson approximately 1 ¼ mile south of the Mills­-Pottawattamie County line and travels in a northeasterly direction for approximately 1 ½ miles terminating at the junction of US 59.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

Locate Iowa 244 and its extension in Mills County, Iowa, as follows:

 

Henderson:

 

Beginning on an unnamed street at Oak Street; thence west and north to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning on the north corporation line of the City of Henderson connecting with an unnamed street; thence curving in a northeasterly direction through Section 10‑T73N‑R40W to a point approximately 1300 feet west of the NE Corner said Section 10; thence east following substantially the section line of Section 10 and 11‑T73N‑R40W to a point near the NE Corner Section 11‑T73N‑R40W (junction US 59).

 

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 244, Mills County, Iowa.

 

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
