DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Due to a review of our Primary Interstate Highway System records, Interstate 29 in Mills County should be deleted from the Primary Interstate Highway System, and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Interstate Highway System.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

Locate Interstate 29 in Mills County, Iowa, as follows:

 

Beginning on the Fremont‑Mills County line at a point in the SW ¼ of Section 33‑T71N‑R43W, Mills County  (NW ¼ of Section 4‑T70N‑R43W, Fremont County; thence in a northerly direction along the west side of and substantially parallel to the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad through the western halves of Sections 33, 28, 21, 16, 9 and 4‑T71N‑R43W; thence contin­uing northwesterly and northerly substantially parallel to said railroad through Sections 33, 32, 29, 20, 17, 8, 5 and 6‑T72N‑R43W and Sections 31, 30, 19, 18, 17, 8, 5 and 6 to a point near the NE Corner of Section 6‑T73N‑R43W, Mills County (SE Corner of Section 31‑T74N‑R43W, Pottawattamie County).

 

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Interstate 29 in Mills County, Iowa.

 

NOTE: To become effective upon adoption of this resolution.
