TITLE:  Official Description Change:  Iowa 330 in Marshall County

 

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number 89-TJ-007-64, between the Iowa Department of Transportation, Marshall County and the city of Marshalltown, transferred the portion of Iowa 330 from county road S75 easterly to the end of Iowa 330 in Marshalltown, to county and city jurisdiction on December 26, 1989.

 

The official description of Iowa 330 should be revised to reflect this transfer.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended to delete the section of Iowa 330 in Marshall County described above from the Primary Road System.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 330 was relocated in Marshall County beginning at the junction of county road S75 and Iowa 330.  Beginning at a point near the W ¼ Corner of Section 6‑T83N‑R18W and extending northerly through Albion on former county road S75; thence easterly on former Iowa 233 to a junction with Iowa 14.

 

A portion of county road S75 (FA233‑01) was transferred to the state via transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑330‑2 (29)2m‑64.

 

The total length of the relocated portion of Iowa 330 is approximately 11.53 miles.  The remaining portion of Iowa 330 is not affected by this change.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended to approve revising the description of Iowa 330 in Marshall County and including the new description in the Primary Road System.

 

New description ‑ Iowa 330 and its extension in Marshall County described as follows:

 

Beginning on the Marshall‑Story County line at a point approximately 300 feet north of the SW Corner  of Section 31‑T82N‑R20W, Marshall County (SE Corner  Section 36‑T82N‑R21W, Story County); thence in a northeasterly direction through Sections 31, 29, 28, 21, 22, 15, 14, 11, 12 and 1‑T82N‑R20W, Section 6‑T82N‑R19W, Sections 31, 32, 29, 28, 21, 22, 15, 14 (junction US 30), 11, 12 and 1‑T83N‑R19W; thence north through Sections 31, 30, 19, 18, and 7‑T84N‑R19W to the south corporation line of Albion connecting with Main Street.

 

Albion:

 

Beginning on Main Street at the south corporation line; thence north on Main Street to the north corporation line.

 

Beginning on the north corporation line of Albion connecting with Main Street; thence north and northeast through Section 6‑T84N‑R18W to a point approximately 1,600 feet west of the NE Corner of Section 6‑T84N‑R18W; thence east following substantially the section line of Sections 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2‑T84N‑R18W to the (Junction of Iowa 14) at a point near the NE Corner of Section 2‑T84N‑R18W.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 14 was relocated in Marshalltown and opened to traffic on October 12, 1925.  The portion of the old alignment of Iowa 14 on Center Street from Boone Street north to Linn Street and on Linn Street from Center Street east to South 3rd Avenue (junction of relocated Iowa 14) should be re-designated as an extension of Iowa 330.  The remainder of Iowa 330 remains unchanged.

 

Iowa 330 begins on the Marshall‑Story County line approximately six miles south west of Rhodes near the southwest Corner of Marshall County and travels northeasterly to a junction with Iowa 14 in Marshalltown.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended to approve revising the description of Iowa 330 in Marshall County and including the new description in the Primary Road System.

 

New Description ‑ Iowa 330 and its extension in Marshall County described as follows:

Beginning on West Lincoln Way at the west corporation line; thence northeasterly and easterly on West Lincoln Way to South 9th Street; thence north on South 9th Street to Boone Street; thence east on Boone Street to Center Street; thence north on Center Street to Linn Street; thence east on Linn Street to South 3rd Avenue (junction Iowa 14).

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 330 in Marshall County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
