TITLE: Official Description Change: Iowa 233, Marshall County

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to the relocation of Iowa 330 in Marshall County, Iowa 233 no longer exists and should be deleted from the Primary Road System. Staff Action S‑90‑796 dated January 26, 1990, revised the description of Iowa 330 to include Iowa 233 and, in effect, removed it from the system.

Iowa 233 begins in Albion and travels north and east to junction with Iowa 14.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to approve deleting the description of Iowa 233 and its extension in Marshall County from the Primary Road System.

Old Description - Iowa 233 and its extension in Marshall County described as follows:

Albion:

Beginning on Main Street at Johnson Street; thence north on Main Street to the north corporation line.

Beginning on the north corporation line of Albion connecting with Main Street; thence north and northeast through Section 6‑T84N‑R18W to a point approximately 1,600 feet west of the NE Corner of Section 6‑T84N‑R18W; thence east following substantially the section line of Sections 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2‑T84N‑R18W (junction of Iowa 14) at a point near the NE Corner of Section 2‑T84N‑R18W.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 233 in Marshall County should be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

Iowa 233 begins in Albion, Iowa and travels in a northerly and easterly direction terminating at the junction of Iowa 14 approximately 4 miles north of Marshalltown, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 233 and its extension in Marshall County as follows:

Albion:

Beginning on an unnamed street at Main Street; thence northerly to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning on the north corporation line of the City of Albion connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly and northeasterly through Section 6-T84N‑R18W to a point approximately 1600 feet west of the NE Corner of Section 6‑T84N‑R18W; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2‑T84N‑R18W (junction of Iowa 14) at a point near the NE Corner of Section 2‑T84N‑R18W.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 233 in Marshall County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
