DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number 2003-TJ-016(please see figure below), between Mahaska County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 102 from approximately 1608 feet south of the NW Corner Section 18-T76N-R17W (junction Iowa 163); thence north following substantially the county line to a point near the NW Corner Section 7-T76N-R17W and Section 30-T77N-R16W to a point near the NE Corner said Section 30; thence generally northeasterly through Sections 7, 8, and 5-T76N-R17W and Sections 32, 33, 28, and 27-T77N-R17W to a point near the N ¼ Corner said Section 27; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 27, 26, and 25-T77N-R17W and Section 30-T77N-R16W to a point near the NE Corner said Section 30; thence generally northeasterly through Sections 20, 21, 16, 15, and 14-T77N-R16W to the west corporation line of New Sharon at a point near the E ¼ Corner SE ¼ Section 14-T77N-R16W connecting with Market Street to county jurisdiction on May 1, 2003.

 

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the old description of Iowa 102, in Mahaska County, be deleted and a new description be included in the Primary Road System.

 

 

New Sharon:

 

Beginning on Market Street at the west corporation line; thence east on Market Street to Main Street (junction US 63 and Iowa 146).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number 96-TJ-009 between the Iowa Department of Transportation and Mahaska and Marion Counties, transferred a section of county line road from county to state on April 5, 1996.

 

Iowa 102 will be rerouted over this section of road.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the old description of Iowa 102 in Mahaska County be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description, as described in the attachment, be included in the Primary Road System.

 

New Description - Iowa 102 and its extension in Mahaska County described as follows:

 

Beginning on the Mahaska-Marion County line 490 meters (1608 feet) south of the NW Corner of Section 18-T76N-R17W (junction Iowa 163) (south ramps), north following substantially the county line to a point near the NW Corner Section 7-T76N-R17W and Section 30-T77N-R16W to a point near the NE Corner said Section 30; thence generally northeasterly through Sections 7, 8 and 5-T76N-R17W and Sections 32, 33, 28 and 27-T77N-R17W to a point near the N ¼ Corner said Section 27; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 27, 26 and 25-T77N-R17W and Section  30-T77N-R16W to a point near the NE Corner said Section  30; thence generally northeasterly through Sections 20, 21, 16, 15 and 14-T77N-R16W to the west corporation line of New Sharon at a point near the E ¼ Corner SE ¼ Section  14-T77N-R16W, connecting with Market Street.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑102‑2 (2)‑‑2M‑62 between the Iowa Department of Transportation and New Sharon transferred that portion of Market Street from the west corporation line east to Main Street (junction US 63 and Iowa 146) to state jurisdiction on July 22, 1986 extending Iowa 102.  The remainder of Iowa 102 will remain unchanged.

 

Iowa 102 begins on the Mahaska‑Marion County line approximately two miles east of Pella and travels northeasterly and easterly to a junction with US 63 and Iowa 146 in New Sharon.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended to approve revising the description of Iowa 102 in Mahaska County and including the new description in the Primary Road System.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ-102‑2 (1), between Mahaska County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred the road section from the Mahaska-Marion County line near the NW Corner Section 7‑T76N‑R17W generally northeasterly to the west corporation line of the City of New Sharon near the E ¼ Corner SE ¼ Section 14‑T77N‑R16W to state jurisdiction on July 14, 1980.  The road section is designated Iowa 102.

 

Iowa 102 begins on the Mahaska‑Marion County line approximately two miles east of the City of Pella, and travels generally northeasterly to the west corporation line of the City of New Sharon.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the commission approve including the attached description of Iowa 102 in Mahaska County in the primary road system.
