DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:
Due
to a review of our Primary Road System records, US 18 in Lyon County should be
deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description added should be
officially included into the Primary Road System.
US
18 begins at the Iowa‑South Dakota State line approximately 4 miles west
of Inwood and travels in an easterly and southerly direction to the Lyon-Sioux
County line approximately 3 miles south of Inwood, Iowa,
PROPOSAL/ACTION
RECOMMENDATION:
Locate
US 18 in Lyon County,
Beginning
on the Iowa‑South Dakota State line (Big Sioux River) at a point
approximately 1300 feet north of the SW Corner Section 16‑T98N‑R48W;
thence in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 1300 feet east and
2000 feet north of the SW Corner Section 16‑T98N‑R48W; thence in an
easterly and southeasterly direction through Section 16 and 15‑T98N‑R48W
to a point near the SE Corner Section 15-T98N‑R48W; thence easterly
through the south part of Section 14‑T98N‑R48W to a point approximately
750 feet east of the SW Corner of said Section 14; thence east following
substantially the section line of Sections 23 and 24‑T98N‑R48W and
Section 19‑T98N‑R47W to a point approximately 600 feet west of the
NE Corner Section 19‑T98N‑R47W; thence curving in a southeasterly
direction to a point approximately 600 feet south of the NE Corner Section 19‑T98N‑R47W;
thence south following substantially the section line of Sections 20, 29, and
32‑T98N‑R47W to the Lyon‑Sioux County line at a point rear the
SW Corner Section 32‑T98N‑R47W, Lyon County (NW Corner Section 5‑T97N‑R47W,
Sioux County).

THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve
the location of US 18,

To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
