DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 78 in Louisa County should be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

Iowa 78 begins at the Louisa‑Henry County line approximately 6 miles west of Morning Sun, Iowa and travels easterly via Morning Sun, Iowa terminating at the junction of US 61 approximately 3 miles east of Morning Sun, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 78 and its extension in Louisa County as follows:

Beginning on the Louisa‑Henry County line at a point near the NW Corner of Section 31‑T73N‑R4W, Louisa County (NE Corner of Section 36‑T73N‑R5W, Henry County); thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 31, 32, 33, 34 and 35‑T73N-R4W to a point approximately 250 feet west of the N ¼ Corner of Section 35-T73N‑R4W; thence in a northeasterly and easterly direction through the south part of Sections 26 and 25‑T73N‑R4W to the west corporation line of the city of Morning Sun connecting with an unnamed street.

Morning Sun:

Beginning on the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence southeasterly to the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning again on the south corporation line of the City of Morning Sun connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 31, 32, 33 and 34‑T73N‑R3W (junction of US 61) at a point approximately ¼ mile east of the N ¼ Corner of Section 34‑T73N‑R3W.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 78 in Louisa County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
