TITLE: Unsigned 941, Linn County

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

US 218 has been relocated from the Johnson‑Washington County Line northerly and northwesterly to a junction with Interstate 380 and runs duplicate with Interstate 380 to the junction of US 30 in Cedar Rapids. The final segment of this relocation from the Indian Hills Interchange northwesterly to a junction with Interstate 380 was opened to traffic June 26, 1985, and was functionally classified under the State Functional Classification System November 25, 1986. The old alignment of US 218 has been re-designated as Iowa 965. To maintain continuity in the Iowa Route Numbering System Unsigned Iowa 941 should be re-designated as a portion of Iowa 965 and its description deleted from the Primary Road System to reflect this re-designation.

Unsigned Iowa 941 begins at the PI of US 30 and 218 in Cedar Rapids and travels north to a point approximately 100 feet north of 50th Avenue Court.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to approve deleting the description of Unsigned Iowa 941 in Linn County from the Primary Road System.

Cedar Rapids:

Beginning on 6th Street at the PI of US 30 and 218; thence north on 6th Street to 50th Avenue Court SW (north ramps US 30 and 218).

TITLE: Unsigned Iowa 941, Linn County

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑941‑0 (5) ‑‑2M‑57, between the City of Cedar Rapids and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Unsigned Iowa 941 from the west corporation line on 16th Avenue East to 6th Street SW; thence south on 6th Street SW to 50th Avenue Court SW (north ramp of US 30 and US 218) to city jurisdiction on June 2, 1986. The official description of Unsigned Iowa 941 in Linn County should be revised to reflect this transfer.

Unsigned Iowa 941 begins at a junction with US 30 and US 218 on the west corporation line of Cedar Rapids and travels east and south to the PI of US 30 and US 218 in the south part of Cedar Rapids.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to approve revising the description of Unsigned Iowa 941 in Linn County and including the new description in the Primary Road System.

Unsigned Iowa 941 begins at a junction with relocated US 30 and US 218 on the west corporation line of the City of Cedar Rapids, and travels east and south to another junction with relocated US 30 and US 218 in the City of Cedar Rapids.

Due to an annexation to the City of Cedar Rapids, the official description of Unsigned Iowa 941 should be revised to reflect this change in corporate limits.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the present description of Unsigned Iowa 941 in Linn County from the primary road system and approve including the attached new description of Unsigned Iowa 941 in the primary road system.

Cedar Rapids:

Beginning at the west corporation line (junction US 30 and US 218) on an unnamed street; thence easterly and southerly to the PI of US 30 and US 218.

Unsigned Iowa 941 begins at a junction with relocated US 30 and US 218 approximately one mile west of the City of Cedar Rapids and proceeds east into the City of Cedar Rapids.

Due to the relocation of US 30 and US 218 in the Cedar Rapids area, Unsigned Iowa 941 has been created and its description should be officially included in the primary road system.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve including the attached description of Unsigned Iowa 941 in Linn County in the primary road system.

Locate Unsigned Iowa 941 and its extension in Linn County as follows:

Beginning at a point near the NW Corner Section 35‑T83N‑R8W (junction US 30 and US 218); thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 35 and 36‑T83N‑R8W to the west corporation line of the City of Cedar Rapids connecting with an unnamed street.

Cedar Rapids:

Beginning on the west corporation connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly and southerly to the PI of US 30 and US 218.
