Beginning on 15th Street at Avenue "H" (junction US 61 and Iowa 2); thence north on 15th Street to the north corporation line.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑88‑0 (4), between the Iowa Department of Transportation and Lee County, transferred the portion of Iowa 88 from the north corporation line of the City of Fort Madison northerly to a junction with Iowa 16 in the SE ¼ of the SW ¼ Section 28‑T69N‑R4W to county jurisdiction on September 15, 1980. The remaining portion of Iowa 88 in the City of Fort Madison should be re-designated as Unsigned Iowa 944 and its description officially included in the primary road system.

Unsigned Iowa 944 begins at Avenue "H" (junction US 61 and Iowa 2) in the City of Fort Madison and travels northerly to the north corporation line.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve including the attached description of Unsigned Iowa 944 in Lee County in the primary road system.

Locate Unsigned Iowa 944 in Lee County as follows:

Fort Madison:

Beginning on an unnamed street at Avenue "H" (junction US 61 and Iowa 2); thence northerly to the north corporation line, connecting with an unnamed street.
