Beginning at a point near the SW Corner Section 26‑T74N‑R13W (junction Iowa 149); thence north following the section line of Section 26, 23, 14, 11, and 2‑T74N‑R13W and Section 35‑T75N‑R13W to a point approximately 400 feet north of the SW Corner Section 35‑T75N‑R13W; thence northwesterly through Section 34 and 27‑T75N‑R13W to a point approximately 400 feet north of the S ¼ Corner Section 27‑T75N‑R13W; thence north following substantially the center section line of Sections 27 and 22‑T75N‑R13W to a point approximately 700 feet south of the N ¼ Corner Section 22‑T75N‑R13W; thence northeasterly and northerly through Sections 22, 15, 14, and 11‑T75N‑R13W to the south corporation line of Delta connecting with Center Street.

Delta:

Beginning on Center Street at the south corporation line; thence north and northwesterly on Center Street to the north corporation line.

TITLE: Iowa 21, Keokuk County

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑021‑0 (11) ‑‑2M‑54, between Keokuk County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred county road V‑33 from a junction with Iowa 149 near the SW Corner Section 26‑T74N‑R13W northerly to the south corporation line of the City of Delta and from the north corporation line of the City of Delta northwesterly to a junction with Iowa 92 near the NW Corner Section 3‑T75N‑R13W to State jurisdiction on August 26, 1980 and are now designated as a portion of Iowa 21.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑021‑0 (10) ‑‑2M‑54, between the City of Delta and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred the section of road from the south corporation line north to First Street and from Sixth Street north and northwest to the north corporation line to State jurisdiction on August 26, 1980 and are now designated as a portion of Iowa 21.

To maintain continuity in the state route numbering system that portion of Iowa 108 in the City of Delta, from First Street north to Sixth Street should be re-designated as a portion of Iowa 21.

Iowa 21 begins at a junction with Iowa 149 approximately three‑quarter mile west of the City of Hedrick and proceeds northerly via the Cities of Delta and What Cheer to the Keokuk‑Poweshiek County line approximately seven miles north of the City of What Cheer.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the present description of Iowa 21 in Keokuk County from the primary road system and approve including the attached new description of Iowa 21 in the primary road system.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 21 in Keokuk County should be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

Iowa 21 begins at the junction Iowa 92 approximately 3 ¾ miles south of What Cheer and travels in a northerly direction via What Cheer to the Keokuk‑Poweshiek County line approximately 9 miles north of What Cheer, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 21 and its extensions in Keokuk County, Iowa as follows:

Beginning at a point near the SW Corner of Section 34‑T76N‑R13W (junction Iowa 92); thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 34, 27, 22 and 15‑T76N‑R13W to the south corporation line of the City of What Cheer connecting with an unnamed street.

What Cheer:

Beginning at the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.
