TITLE: Iowa 1, Jones County, Iowa

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 1 in Jones County should be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

Iowa 1 begins at the Jones‑Linn County line approximately 1/10 mile south of Martelle, Iowa and travels northeasterly via Martelle terminating at the junction of US 151 approximately 3 ½ miles northeast of Martelle, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 1 and its extension in Jones County as follows:

Beginning on the Jones‑Linn County line at a point approximately 800 feet north of the W ¼ Corner of Section 7‑T83N‑R4W, Jones County (E ¼ Corner of Section 12‑T83N‑R5W, Linn County); thence in a northeasterly direction through Section 7‑T83N‑R4W to the south corporation line of the City of Martelle connecting with an unnamed street.

Martelle:

Beginning on the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northeasterly to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning again on the north corporation line of the City of Martelle connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a northeasterly direction through Section 6-T83N-R4W and Sections 31, 32, 29 and 20‑T84N‑R4W to a point approximately 300 feet north and 200 feet east of the center of Section 20‑T84N‑R4W (junction of US 151).

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 1 in Jones County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Martelle:

Commencing on Military Street at the south corporation line; thence northeasterly on Military Street approximately 400 feet; thence northerly on unnamed street crossing the Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Paul Railroad overhead at a point approximately 250 feet west of Military Street; thence northeasterly on unnamed street to the north corporation line.

Beginning again on the north corporation line of the Town of Martelle, connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a northeasterly direction through Section 6‑T83‑R4W and Sections 31, 29 and 20‑T84N‑R4W to a point approximately 300 feet north and 200 feet east of the center of Section 20‑T84N‑R4W.
