Beginning at a point approximately 200 feet south of the W ¼ Corner Section 1‑T79N‑R18W (south ramp of Interstate 80); thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 1‑T79N‑R18W (junction Interstate 80) and Sections 36 and 25‑T80N‑R18W (junction US 6) to the south corporation line of Kellogg connecting with East Street.

Kellogg:

Beginning on East Street at the south corporation line; thence north on East Street to the north corporation line.

Beginning again on the north corporation line of Kellogg connecting with East Street; thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 24, 13, 12, and 1‑T80N‑R18W and Sections 36, 25, and 24‑T81N‑R18W to a point near the NW Corner Section 24‑T81N‑R18W; thence west following substantially the section line of Section 23‑T81N‑R18W to a point near the NW Corner Section 23‑T81N‑R18W (junction Iowa 14).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑224‑0 (3)‑‑2M‑50, between the City of Kellogg and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 224 from East Street west and north to Main Street to city jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑224‑0 (4)‑‑2M‑50, between Jasper County and the Iowa Department of Transportation and transfer of jurisdiction agreement TJ‑224‑0 (3)‑‑2M‑50 between the City of Kellogg and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred the road sections from the south ramp of Interstate 80 approximately 200 feet south of the W ¼ Corner Section 1‑T79N‑R18W north to a junction with US 6 and Iowa 224 approximately 1,320 feet north of the SE Corner Section 26‑T80N‑R18W and East Street from a junction with Blair Street and Iowa 224 in the City of Kellogg north to the north corporation line of the City of Kellogg and from the north corporation line of the City of Kellogg north and west to a junction with Iowa 14 near the NW Corner Section 23‑T81N‑R18W to state jurisdiction on July 1, 1980. These sections are now designated as a portion of Iowa 224.

Iowa 224 begins at a junction with Interstate 80 approximately six miles east of the City of Newton and proceeds northerly and westerly via the City of Kellogg to a junction with Iowa 14 approximately twelve miles northeast of the City of Newton.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the Commission approve deleting the present description of Iowa 224 in Jasper County from the primary road system and approve including the attached new description of Iowa 224 in the primary road system.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 224 in Jasper County should be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

Iowa 224 begins at junction US 6 approximately 5 ½ miles east of Newton and travels in a northerly direction terminating in Kellogg, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 224 and its extension in Jasper County as follows:

Beginning at a point approximately 1320 feet north of the SE Corner of Section 26-T80N‑R18W; thence north following substantially the section line of Section 25-T80N‑R18W to the south corporation line of the City of Kellogg connecting with an unnamed street.

Kellogg:

Beginning at the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly, westerly, northwesterly and northerly to Main Street.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 224, Jasper County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
