DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

New Description - Iowa 27 (Avenue of the Saints) and its extensions in Henry County described as follows:

Beginning on the Henry-Lee County Line at a point near the SW Corner Section 33-T70N-R6W, Henry County (NW Corner Section 4-T96N-R6W, Lee County); thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 33, 28, 21, 16, and 9-T70N-R6W to a point approximately 700 feet south of the W ¼ Corner Section 9-T70N-R6W; thence northeasterly through Sections 9 and 4-T70N-R6W and Sections 33, 34, and 27-T71N-R6W to a point approximately 2205 feet south and 140 feet west of the N ¼ Corner NW ¼ of Section 27-T71N-R6W; thence northerly following substantially the west quarter section line through Sections 27 and 22-T71N-R6W to the south corporation line of Mount Pleasant connecting with US 218.

Mount Pleasant:

Beginning on the south corporation line (near the Center Section 22-T71N-R6W) connecting with US 218; thence northeasterly on US 218 to the south corporation line of an unincorporated area (approximately 360 feet east of the W ¼ Corner Section 14-T71N-R6W).

Beginning again on the south corporation line of an unincorporated area (approximately 360 feet east of the W ¼ Corner Section 14-T71N-R6W); thence northeasterly approximately 2670 feet to the north corporation line of an unincorporated area (south corporation line of Mount Pleasant), connecting with US 218.

Mount Pleasant:

Beginning on the south corporation line, connecting with US 218; thence northeasterly to the junction of US 34; thence northerly (begin one-way northbound) to the north corporation line (approximately Center Section 11-T71N-R6W).

Beginning again on the north corporation line of Mount Pleasant (approximately Center Section 11-T71N-R6W); thence northerly and northwesterly through Sections 11, 2, 3-T71N-R6W, 34, 33, 28-T72N-R6W (approximately 1300 feet east and 980 feet north of SE Corner Section 28-T72N-R6W) (end one-way northbound).

Also

Beginning approximately 1300 feet east and 980 feet north of the SE Corner Section 28-T72N-R6W (begin one-way southbound); thence southeasterly through Sections 28, 33, 34-T72N-R6W, and 3-T71N-R6W to the north corporation line of Mount Pleasant (approximately S ¼ Corner NW ¼ Section 3-T71N-R6W) connecting with Grand Avenue.

Mount Pleasant:

Beginning on the north corporation line, connecting with Grand Avenue (approximately S ¼ Corner NW ¼ Section 3-T71N-R6W); thence southerly on Grand Avenue to junction of US 34/Iowa 438 connecting with Washington Street; thence easterly on Washington Street/US 34 to junction with US 218 northbound (approximately 1730 feet east and 40 feet south of the NW Corner Section 14-T71N-R6W) (end one-way southbound).

Beginning approximately 1300 feet east and 980 feet north of SE Corner Section 28-T72N-R6W; thence northerly and northeasterly through Sections 28, 21, and 16-T72N-R6W to a point approximately 600 feet north of the E ¼ Corner Section 16-T72N-R6W; thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 15, 10, and 3-T72N-R6W and Sections 34 and 27-T73N-R6W to a point near the W ¼ Corner Section 27-T73N-R6W; thence northeasterly through Sections 27 and 22-T73N-R6W to approximately the Center SW ¼ of Section 22-T73N-R6W; thence northerly following substantially the west quarter section line of Sections 22, 15, and 10-T73N-R6W; thence northwesterly through Section 3-T73N-R6W to a point approximately 400 feet east of the NW Corner Section 3-T73N-R6W, Henry County (SW Corner Section 34-T74N-R6W, Washington County).

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to approve adding the description of Iowa 27 (Avenue of the Saints) in Henry County to the Primary Road System.
