DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement numbers 90‑TJ‑001‑42 and 88‑TJ‑007‑42 between the Iowa Department of Transportation and Hardin County and the City of Steamboat Rock, transferred Iowa 118 to local jurisdiction on August 16, 1989.  The present description of Iowa 118 should be deleted to reflect this change.

 

Iowa 118 begins at Iowa 175 east of Eldora and travels northerly into Steamboat Rock ending at 6th Street.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended to approve deleting the description of Iowa 118 and its extension in Hardin County from the Primary Road System.

 

Old Description ‑ Iowa 118 and its extension in Hardin County described as follows:

 

Beginning at a point approximately 200 feet east of the W ¼ Corner of Section 9‑T87N‑R19W (Junction of Iowa 175); thence in a northerly and northeasterly direction through the NW ¼ of Section 9‑T87N‑R19W; thence in a northerly and northeasterly direction through the W ½ of Section 4‑T87N‑R19W to a point approximately 500 feet north of the center of Section 4‑T87N‑R19W; thence northerly following substantially the center section line of Section 4‑T87N‑R19W and Section 33-­T88N‑R19W to a point approximately 900 feet south of the N ¼ Corner of Section 33‑T88N‑R19W; thence northeasterly direction through the NE ¼ Section 33‑T88N‑R19W and the SE ¼ Section 28‑T88N‑R19W to the south corporation line of Steamboat Rock, connecting with 1st Street.

 

Steamboat Rock:

 

Beginning on 1st Street at the south corporation line; thence northeast and north on 1st Street to Market Street; thence west on Market Street to 6th Street.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 118 in Hardin County should be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description added should be officially included in the Primary Road System.

 

Iowa 118 begins at the junction of Iowa 175 at the east edge of Eldora, and travels in a northerly direction terminating in Steamboat Rock, Iowa.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

Locate Iowa 118 and its extension in Hardin County as follows:

 

Beginning at a point approximately 200 feet east of the W ¼ Corner of Section 9­-T87N-R19W (junction of Iowa 175); thence in a northerly and northeasterly direction through the NW ¼ of Section 9‑T87N‑R19W; thence in a north­erly and northeasterly direction through the W ½ of Section 4‑T87N‑R19W to a point approximately 500 feet north of the center of Section 4‑T87N‑R19W; thence northerly following substantially the center section line of Section 4‑T87N‑R19W and Section 33‑T88N‑R19W to a point approximately 900 feet south of the N ¼ Corner of Section 33­T88N‑R19W; thence in a northeasterly direction through the NE ¼ Section 33‑T88N­-R19W and the SE ¼ Section 28‑T88N‑R19W to the south corporation line of the City of Steamboat Rock, connecting with an unnamed street.
