DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Iowa 256 begins at Iowa 17 just west of Corwith, and travels generally easterly to a point in Corwith.

 

Due to transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑256‑0 (2) ‑2M‑41 between Hancock County and the Iowa Department of Transportation approved April 4, 1980, that portion of Iowa 256 from Iowa 17 near the W ¼ Corner NW ¼ Section 6‑T94N‑R26W easterly to the west corporation line of Corwith should be deleted from the primary road system and reverted to the Hancock County secondary road system effective July 1, 1980.

 

Due to transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑256‑0 (1) ‑‑2M‑41 between the City of Corwith and the Iowa Department of Transportation approved April 4, 1980, that por­tion of Iowa 256 from the west corporation line of Corwith easterly, northeasterly, and southeasterly to approximately 283 feet southeast of First Street should be deleted from the primary road system and reverted to the city street system of Corwith effective July 1, 1980.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the description of Iowa 256 in Hancock County, as referred to in the attached detailed description, be deleted from the primary road system.

 

Remove Iowa 256 and its extension in Hancock County as follows:

 

Beginning at a point near the W ¼ Corner NW ¼ Section 6‑T94N‑R26W (junction Iowa 17); thence east following substantially the north quarter section line said Section 6 to the west corporation line of the City of Corwith, connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Corwith:

 

Beginning on the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly, northeasterly and southeasterly to a point approximately 283 feet southeast of First Street.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records Iowa 256 in Hancock County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 256 in Hancock County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

 

Locate Iowa 256 and its extension in Hancock County as follows:

 

Beginning at a point near the W ¼ Corner NW ¼ Section 6‑T94N‑R26W (junction Iowa 17); thence east following substantially the north quarter section line said Section 6 to the west corporation line of the City of Corwith, connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Corwith:

 

Beginning on the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly, northeasterly and southeasterly to a point approximately 283 feet southeast of First Street.
