DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 179 begins at US 69 just west of Klemme, and travels generally easterly to a point in Klemme.

Due to transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑179‑0 (5) ‑‑2M‑41 between Hancock County and the Iowa Department of Transportation approved April 4, 1980, that portion of Iowa 179 from a junction with US 69 approximately 800 feet south of the NW Corner Section 31‑T95N‑R23W southeasterly and easterly to the west corporation line of Klemme should be deleted from the primary road system and reverted to the Hancock County secondary road system effective July 1, 1980.

Due to transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑179‑0 (4) ‑‑2M‑41 between the City of Klemme and the Iowa Department of Transportation approved May 2, 1980, that portion of Iowa 179 from the west corporation line of Klemme easterly to second street should be deleted from the primary road system and reverted to the City street system of Klemme effective July 1, 1980.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the description of Iowa 179 in Hancock County, as referred to in the attached detailed description, be deleted from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 179 and its extension in Hancock County as follows:

Beginning at a point approximately 800 feet south of the NW Corner of Section 31‑T95N‑R23W (junction US 69) thence curving in a southeasterly direction through Section 31‑T95N‑R23W; to a point approximately 1000 feet south and 200 feet east of the NW Corner of Section 31‑T95N‑R23W; thence east through said Section 31 to the west corporation line of the City of Klemme, connecting with an unnamed street.

Klemme:

Beginning on the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly to Second Street.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records Iowa 179 in Hancock County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 179 in Hancock County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Beginning at a point approximately 800 feet south of the NW Corner of Section 31‑T95N‑R23W (junction US 69) thence curving in a southeasterly direction through Section 31‑T95N‑R23W; to a point approximately 1000 feet south and 200 feet east of the NW Corner of Section 31‑T95N‑R23W; thence east through said Section 31 to the west corporation line of the City of Klemme, connecting with an unnamed street.
