DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 342 begins at a junction with Iowa 141 approximately one‑half mile south of the City of Jamaica and proceeds north to the City of Jamaica.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑342‑0 (3)‑‑2M‑39, between Guthrie County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 342 from a junction with Iowa 141 near the S ¼ Corner Section 11‑T81N‑R30W north to the south corporation line of the City of Jamaica to county jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑342‑0 (2)‑‑2M‑39, between the City of Jamaica and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 342 from the south corporation line of Jamaica, northerly, easterly and northerly to Second Street to city jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Iowa 342 in Guthrie County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 342 and its extension in Guthrie County as follows:

Beginning at a point near the S ¼ Corner Section 11‑T81N‑R30W (junction of Iowa 141); thence northerly following substantially the center section line of Section 11‑T81N‑R30W to the south corporation line of the City of Jamaica, connecting with an unnamed street.

Jamaica:

Beginning on the south corporation line, connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly, easterly, and northerly to Second Street.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our primary Road System records, Iowa 342 in Guthrie County should be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

Iowa 342 begins at the junction of Iowa 141 ½ mile south of Jamaica and travels northerly terminating in Jamaica, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 342 and its extension in Guthrie County as follows:

Beginning at a point near the S ¼ Corner Section 11‑T81N‑R30W (junction of Iowa 141); thence northerly following substantially the center section line of Section 11‑T81N‑R30W to the south corporation line of the City of Jamaica, connecting with an unnamed street.

Jamaica:

Beginning on the south corporation line, connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly, easterly, and northerly to Second Street.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 342 in Guthrie County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon adoption of this resolution.
