DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Transfer of Jurisdiction Agreement TJ‑134‑0 (1)‑‑2M‑35 between the Iowa Depart­ment of Transportation and Franklin County transferred Iowa 134 from a junction with Iowa 3 north to Beeds Lake State Park to County Jurisdiction on July 1, 1987. The description of Iowa 134 in Franklin County should be deleted from the primary road system to reflect this transfer.

 

Iowa 134 begins at a junction with Iowa 3 approximately one mile west of the City of Hampton and proceeds north to the entrance of Beeds Lake State Park.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended to approve deleting the description of Iowa 134 from the Primary Road System.

 

Old Description: Iowa 134 in Franklin County described as follows:

 

Beginning at a point approximately 1320 feet south of the NW Corner Section 32‑T92N‑R20W (junction Iowa 3); thence northerly following substantially the section line of Sections 32, 29, and 20‑T92N‑R20W to the entrance to Beeds Lake State Park near the W ¼ Corner Section 20‑T92N‑R20W.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑000‑0 (1) ‑‑2M‑35, between Franklin County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred the section of road from a junction of Iowa 3 approximately 1320 feet south of the NW Corner Section 32‑T92N‑R20W north to the entrance of Beeds Lake State Park near the W ¼ Corner of Section 20‑T92N‑R20W to state juris­diction on July 1, 1980. The section is now designated Iowa 134.

 

Iowa 134 begins at a junction with Iowa 3 approximately one mile west of the City of Hampton and proceeds north to the entrance of Beeds Lake State Park.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the commission approve including the attached descrip­tion of Iowa 134 in Franklin County in the primary road system.

Iowa 134 begins at US 65 approximately three and one‑half miles west of the City of Geneva, and travels easterly into the City of Geneva.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑134‑0 (2)‑‑2M‑35, between Franklin County and the Iowa Department of Transportation transferred that portion of Iowa 134 from US 65 near the W ¼ Corner of Section 22‑T91N-R20W east to the west corporation line of the City of Geneva to county jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑134‑0 (3)‑‑2M‑35, between the City of Geneva and the Iowa Department of Transportation transferred that portion of Iowa 134 from the west corporation line of Geneva easterly and southerly to South Street to city jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Iowa 134 in Franklin County from the primary road system.

Beginning at a point near the W ¼ Corner Section 22‑T91N‑R20W; thence east following substantially the center section line of Sections 22, 23, and 24‑T91N‑R20W and Section 19‑T91N‑R19W to the west corporation line of the City of Geneva, connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Geneva:

 

Beginning at the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly and southerly to a point approximately 133 feet south of the south line of South Street.

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 134 in Franklin County, Iowa should be deleted and the new description should be officially included into the Primary System.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 134 in Franklin County, Iowa.

 

NOTE:  To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
