DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 296 begins in the City of Wadena and travels northerly to a junction with Iowa 56 approximately four miles north of the City of Wadena.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑296‑0 (2)‑‑2M‑33, between the City of Wadena and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 296 from Water Street northerly, easterly and northeasterly to the east corporation line of the City of Wadena to city jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑296‑0 (2)‑‑2M‑33 between the City of Wadena and the Iowa Department of Transportation and transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑296‑0 (1)‑‑2M‑33 between Fayette County and the Iowa Department of Transportation transferred that portion of Iowa 296 along the east corporation line of the City of Wadena from the east corporation line northerly to the north corporation line of Wadena to local jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑296‑0 (1)‑‑2M‑33, between Fayette County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 296 from the north corporation line of the City of Wadena northerly to a junction with Iowa 56; approximately one-fourth mile south of the N ¼ Corner of Section 3‑T93N‑R7W to county jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Iowa 296 in Fayette County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 296 and its extension in Fayette County as follows:

Wadena:

Beginning on an unnamed street at Water Street; thence northerly and easterly and curving in a northeasterly direction to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning on the east corporation line of the City of Wadena connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a northerly direction through Section 27 and 22‑T93N‑R7W to a point approximately one‑quarter mile west of the east one‑quarter Corner Section 22‑T93N‑R7W; thence in a northwesterly and northerly direction through Sections 22, 15, 10 and 3‑T93N‑R7W to a point approximately one‑quarter mile south of the N ¼ Corner Section 3‑T93N‑R7W (junction of Iowa 3).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records Iowa 296 in Fayette County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 296 in Fayette County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Locate Iowa 296 and its extension in Fayette County as follows:

Wadena:

Beginning on an unnamed street at Water Street; thence northerly and easterly, and curving in a northeasterly direction to the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning on the east corporation line of the City of Wadena connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a northerly direction through Section 27 and 22‑T93N‑R7W to a point approximately ¼ mile west of the east ¼ Corner Section 22‑T93N‑R7W; thence in a northwesterly and northerly direction through Sections 22, 15, 10 and 3-T93N‑R7W to a point approximately ¼ mile south of the N ¼ Corner Section 3‑T93N‑R7W (junction Iowa 3).
