DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 190 begins on the Fayette‑Buchanan county line approximately one mile east of the City of Fairbank and proceeds easterly along the Fayette‑Buchanan county line to a junction with Iowa 150 approximately one mile south of the City of Oelwein.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑190‑2 (2)‑‑2M‑10, between Buchanan County and the Iowa Department of Transportation and transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑281‑0 (2)‑‑2M‑10, between the City of Fairbank and the Iowa Department of Transportation extended Iowa 281 from the Buchanan‑Black Hawk county line to Iowa 190 in the City of Fairbank on June 30, 1980. To maintain continuity in the Iowa route numbering system, Iowa 190 should be removed from its alignment and re-designated as a portion of Iowa 281.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Iowa 190 in Fayette County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 190 in Fayette County as follows:

Beginning at the Fayette‑Buchanan County line at a point approximately 400 feet east of the SW Corner of Section 34‑T91N‑R10W, Fayette County (NW Corner of Section 3‑T90N‑R10W, Buchanan County); thence east along the Fayette‑Buchanan County line (see Buchanan County) to a point approximately 300 feet west of the SW Corner SE ¼ SE ¼ Section 33-T91N‑R9W, Fayette County (junction Iowa 150) (NW Corner NE ¼ NE ¼ Section 4‑T90N‑R9W, Buchanan County).

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 190 in Fayette County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

Iowa 190 begins on the Fayette‑Buchanan County line approximately 1 mile east of Fairbank and travels easterly along the Fayette‑Buchanan County line terminating at the junction of Iowa 150 approximately 13 miles south of Oelwein, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 190 in Fayette County, Iowa as follows:

Beginning at the Fayette‑Buchanan County line at a point approximately 400 feet east of the SW Corner of Section 34‑T91N‑R10W, Fayette County (NW Corner of Section 3‑T90N‑R10W, Buchanan County); thence east along the Fayette‑Buchanan County line (see Buchanan County) to a point approximately 300 feet west of the SW Corner SE ¼ SE ¼ Section 33‑T91N‑R9W, Fayette County (junction Iowa 150) (NW Corner NE ¼ NE ¼ Section 4‑T90N‑R9W, Buchanan County).

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 190 in Fayette County, Iowa.

To be effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
