DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 154 begins at a junction with Iowa 150 approximately four miles south of the City of Fayette and proceeds southeasterly via the City of Arlington to a junction with Iowa 3 approximately four miles southeast of the City of Arlington.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑187‑2 (2)‑‑2M‑33, between Fayette County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, extended Iowa 187 from the Fayette‑Buchanan line north to a junction with Iowa 3 and 154. To maintain continuity in the Iowa route numbering system, Iowa 154 should be removed from its alignment and re‑designated as a portion of Iowa 187.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Iowa 154 in Fayette County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 154 and its extension in Fayette County as follows:

Beginning at a point near the NW Corner of Section 21-T92N-R8W, (junction of Iowa 150); thence south following substantially the section line of Section 21‑T92N‑R8W to a point near the NW Corner of Section 28‑T92N‑R8W; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 28, 27, 26, and 25‑T92N‑R8W and Section 30‑T92N‑R7W to a point near the NE Corner of Section 30‑T92N‑R7W; thence in a southeasterly direction through Sections 29 and 28-T92N‑R7W to the west corporation line of the City of Arlington connecting with an unnamed street.

Arlington:

Beginning at the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly and southeasterly to the east corporation line (at the southeast corner) connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning again at the SE Corner of the corporation of the City of Arlington connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a southeasterly direction through Section 34-T92N-R7W to a point near the SE Corner of Section 34‑T92N‑R7W; thence south following substantially the section line of Section 35-T92N‑R7W and Sections 2, 11, and 14‑T91N‑R7W to a point near the SW Corner of Section 14‑T91N‑R7W (junction of Iowa 3).

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 154 in Fayette County should be deleted and the new description should be officially included into the Primary System.

Iowa 154 begins at the junction of Iowa 150 approximately 4 miles south of Fayette and travels in a southeasterly direction terminating at the junction of Iowa 3 via the City of Arlington, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 154 and its extension in Fayette County as follows:

Beginning at a point near the NW Corner of Section 21‑T92N‑R8W, (junction of Iowa 150); thence south following substantially the section line of Section 21‑T92N‑R8W to a point near the NW Corner of Section 28‑T92N‑R8W; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 28, 27, 26, and 25‑T92N‑R8W and Section 30‑T92N‑R7W to a point near the NE Corner of Section 30‑T92N‑R7W; thence in a southeasterly direction through Sections 29 and 28‑T92N‑R7W to the west corporation line of the City of Arlington connecting with an unnamed street.

Arlington:

Beginning at the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly and southeasterly to the east corporation line (at the southeast corner) connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning again at the SE Corner of the corporation of the City of Arlington connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a southeasterly direction through Section 34‑T92N‑R7W to a point near the SE Corner of Section 34‑T92N‑R7W; thence south following substantially the section line of Section 35‑T92N‑R7W and Sections 2, 11, and 14‑T91N‑R7W to a point near the SW Corner of Section 14-T91N-R7W (junction Iowa 3).

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 154 in Fayette County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Beginning again at the SE Corner of the corporation of the Town of Arlington, connecting with Main Street; thence in a southeasterly direction through Section 34‑T92N‑R7W, to a point near the SE Corner of Section 34‑T92N‑R7W; thence south following substantially the section line to a point near the SE Corner of Section 15‑T91N‑R7W.
