Beginning on the Des Moines-Henry County line at a point approximately 3200 feet south of the NW Corner Section 31-T71N-R4W, Des Moines County (NE Corner Section 36-T71N-R5W, Henry County); thence in a southeasterly and southerly direction through Section 31-T71N-R4W and Sections 6, 5, 8, 9, 16, 21, and 28-T70N-R4W to a point near the Center of said Section 28; thence easterly through Sections 28 and 27-T70N-R4W to a point near the W ¼ Corner Section 26-T70N-R4W; thence southeasterly, easterly, and northeasterly through Sections 26 and 25-T70N-R4W to the west corporation line of Middletown connecting with an unnamed street (approximately 780 feet south of the Center of said Section 25).

 

Middletown:

 

Beginning on the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence easterly on said unnamed street to the east corporation line connecting (approximately 492 feet south of the E ¼ Corner Section 25-T70N-R4W).

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

US 34 begins on the Des Moines‑Henry County line approximately four miles northwest of Danville, and travels southeasterly and easterly to the Iowa­-Illinois State line at Burlington via Danville, Middletown, West Burlington and Burlington.

 

Due to an annexation in the west part of West Burlington within the US 34 and Unsigned Iowa 935 interchange area the present description of US 34 in Des Moines County should be revised. The new description added should be officially included in the primary road system to reflect this change to corporate limits.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of US 34 in Des Moines County be deleted and the new description, as referred to in the attached detailed description be included in the primary road system.
