DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Unsigned Iowa 938 begins at the US Government Fish Hatchery approximately three miles southeast of the City of Manchester and proceeds northerly to a junction with Unsigned Iowa 947 approximately two miles east of the City of Manchester.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑938‑0 (3)‑‑2M‑28, between Delaware County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred Unsigned Iowa 938 from the US Government Fish Hatchery near the center of Section 2‑T88N‑R5W northerly to a junction with Unsigned Iowa 947 near the N ¼ Corner Section 35‑T89N‑R5W to county jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Unsigned Iowa 938 in Delaware County from the primary road system.

Remove Unsigned Iowa 938 in Delaware County as follows:

Beginning at the US Government Fish Hatchery at a point near the center of Section 2‑T88N‑R5W; thence in a northwestern direction to a point near the S ¼ Corner of Section 35‑T89N‑R5W; thence north to a point near the N ¼ Corner of Section 35‑T89N‑R5W (junction Unsigned Iowa 947).

The new alignment of US 20 in Delaware County, Iowa has made it necessary to remove Iowa 116 and created an Unsigned Iowa 938 in Delaware County, Iowa. Unsigned Iowa 938 begins at the US Government Fish Hatchery approximately 2 ½ miles southeast of Manchester and travels northerly to the junction of Unsigned Iowa 947 approximately 2 miles east of Manchester, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Unsigned Iowa 938 in Delaware County as follows:

Beginning at the US Government Fish Hatchery at a point near the center of Section 2‑T88N‑R5W; thence in a northwestern direction to a point near the S ¼ Corner of Section 35‑T89N‑R5W; thence north to a point near the N ¼ Corner of Section 35‑T89N‑R5W (junction Unsigned Iowa 947).

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Unsigned Iowa 938 in Delaware County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
