DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 187 begins on the Delaware‑Buchanan County line approximately two miles west of Backbone State Park and travels easterly to Backbone State Park.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑187‑0 (1)‑‑2M‑28, between Delaware County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 187 from the Delaware‑Buchanan County line near the NW Corner Section 18‑T90N‑R6W easterly to the entrance of Backbone State Park near the NE Corner Section 17‑T90N‑R6W to county jurisdiction on July 1, 1980.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Iowa 187 in Delaware County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 187 in Delaware County as follows:

Beginning on the Delaware‑Buchanan County line at a point near the NW Corner of Section 18‑T90N‑R6W, Delaware County (NE Corner of Section 13‑T90N‑R7W, Buchanan County); thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 18 and 17‑T90N‑R6W to the entrance of Backbone State Park at a point near the NE Corner of Section 17‑T90N‑R6W.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records Iowa 187 in Delaware County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the old description of Iowa 187 in Delaware County be deleted and the new description as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

Beginning on the Delaware‑Buchanan County line at a point near the NW Corner of Section 18‑T90N‑R6W, Delaware County (NE Corner of Section 13‑T90N-R7W, Buchanan County); thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 18 and 17‑T90N‑R6W to the entrance of Backbone State Park at a point near the NE Corner of Section 17‑T90N‑R6W.
