DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 89 begins at a junction with Iowa 141 approximately one mile south of the City of Woodward and proceeds north to the Dallas-Boone County line at the north corporation line of the City of Woodward.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑089‑2 (9)‑‑2M‑08 between Boone County and the Iowa Department of Transportation and transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑089‑2 (8)‑‑2M‑08 between the City of Madrid and the Iowa Department of Transportation, extended Iowa 210 from the Boone‑Story County line to a junction with Iowa 17 in the City of Madrid. To maintain continuity in the Iowa route numbering system Iowa 89 should be re‑designated as Iowa 210.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Iowa 89 in Dallas County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 89 and its extension in Dallas County as follows:

Beginning at a point near the S ¼ Corner Section 7‑T81N‑R26W (junction of Iowa 141); thence northerly through said Section 7 to the south corporation line of the City of Woodward connecting with an unnamed street.

Woodward:

Beginning at the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence north to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street, (Dallas‑Boone County line).

Due to the review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 89 in Dallas County should be deleted from the Primary System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

Iowa 89 begins at the junction of Iowa 141 approximately 1 mile south of Woodward, Iowa and travels north to the Dallas-Boone County line in Woodward, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 89 and its extension in Dallas County as follows:

Beginning at a point near the S ¼ Corner Section 7‑T81N‑R26W (junction of Iowa 141); thence northerly through said Section 7 to the south corporation line of the City of Woodward connecting with an unnamed street.

Woodward:

Beginning at the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence north to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street (Dallas‑Boone County line).

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 89 in Dallas County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon adoption of this resolution.
