DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to an annexation by the City of Grimes in 2017, it is recommended that the primary route description for Iowa 44 in Dallas County be revised.

New Description- Iowa 44 and its extensions in Dallas County described as follows:

Beginning on the Dallas‑Guthrie County line at a point near the NW Corner of Section 6‑T79N‑R29W, Dallas County (NE Corner of Section 1-T79N‑R30W, Guthrie County); thence east following substantially the section line of Sections 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1‑T79N‑R29W and Sections 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1‑T79N‑R28W, and Sections 6, 5, T79N‑R27W (junction of US 169) to the west corporation line of Dallas Center connecting with Sugar Grove Avenue.

Dallas Center:

Beginning on Sugar Grove Avenue at the west corporation line; thence east on Sugar Grove Avenue to the east corporation line.

Beginning again on the east corporation line of Dallas Center connecting with Sugar Grove Avenue; thence east following substantially the section line of Sections 2 and 1‑T79N‑R27W; and Sections 6, 5, 4, 3, 2-T79N-R26W connecting with 240^th Street at the west corporation line of Grimes.

Grimes:

Beginning at the west corporation line connecting with 240^th Street; thence easterly on 240^th Street to the east corporation line and the Dallas-Polk County line at a at a point near the NE Corner of Section 1‑T79N‑R26W, Dallas County (NW Corner of Section 6‑T79N‑R25W, Polk County).

Iowa 44 begins at the Dallas‑Guthrie County line approximately 2 ¾ miles north of Linden, Iowa and travels easterly via Dallas Center, Iowa to the Dallas‑Polk County line approximately 7 ½ miles east of Dallas Center, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 44 and its extension in Dallas County as follows:

Beginning on the Dallas‑Guthrie County line at a point near the NW Corner of Section 6‑T79N‑R29W, Dallas County (NE Corner of Section 1-T79N-R30W, Guthrie County); thence east following substantially the section line of Sections 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1‑T79N‑R29W and Sections 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1‑T79N‑R28W, and Sections 6, 5, (junction of US 169), 4, and 3‑T79N‑R27W to the west corporation line of the City of Dallas Center connecting with an unnamed street.
