DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 293 begins at a junction with Iowa 90 approximately one mile southeast of the City of Van Meter and proceeds northwesterly to the City of Van Meter.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑293‑0 (3) ‑‑2M‑25, between Dallas County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 293 from a junction with Iowa 90 near the S ¼ Corner Section 27‑T78N‑R27W northwesterly to the south corporation line of the City of Van Meter to county jurisdiction on August 27, 1980.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑293‑0 (3) ‑‑2M‑25, between Dallas County and the Iowa Department of Transportation and transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑293‑0 (2) ‑‑2M‑25, between the City of Van Meter and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 293 from the south corporation line north along the east corporation line to approximately 500 feet south of the north line of Section 27‑T78N‑R27W to local jurisdiction on August 27, 1980.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑293‑0 (2) ‑‑2M‑25, between the city of Van Meter and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 293 from the east corporation line of Van Meter westerly, northerly and westerly to the west line of West Street to city jurisdiction of July 1, 1980.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Iowa 293 in Dallas County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 293 and its extension in Dallas County as follows:

Beginning at a point near the S ¼ Corner of Section 27‑T78N‑R27W (junction Iowa 90); thence in a northerly and northwesterly direction to the east corporation line of the City of Van Meter connecting with an unnamed street.

Van Meter:

Beginning at the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence westerly, northerly and westerly to the west line of West Street.

Due to the review of our Primary Road System Records, Iowa 293 in Dallas County should be deleted from the Primary System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

Iowa 293 begins at the junction of Iowa 90 approximately 1 mile southeast of Van Meter, Iowa and travels in a northwesterly direction terminating in Van Meter, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 293 and its extension in Dallas County as follows:

Beginning at a point near the S ¼ Corner of Section 27‑T78N‑R27W (junction Iowa 90); thence in a northerly and northwesterly direction to the east corporation line of the City of Van Meter connecting with an unnamed street.

Van Meter:

Beginning at the east corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence westerly, northerly and westerly to the west line of West Street.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 293 in Dallas County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon adoption of this resolution.
