DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to the review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 17 in Dallas County should be deleted from the Primary System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

Iowa 17 begins at the junction of Iowa 141 on the Dallas‑Polk County line approximately 1 mile southeast of Granger and travels north along the Dallas‑Polk County line to a point approximately 1 ½ miles northeast of Granger. Beginning again on the Dallas‑Polk County line approximately 4 miles northeast of Granger and travels north to the Dallas‑Boone and Polk County line approximately 5 miles east of Woodward.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 17 in Dallas County as follows:

Beginning on the Dallas‑Polk County line at a point approximately a mile north of the SE Corner Section 12‑T80N‑R26W, Dallas County (SW Corner Section 7‑T80N‑R25W, Polk County) (junction of Iowa 141); thence north following substantially the Dallas‑Polk County line to a point approximately ¼ mile south of the NE Corner Section 1‑T80N‑R26W, Dallas County (NW Corner Section 7‑T80N‑R25W, Polk County).

Beginning again near the E ¼ Corner Section 24‑T81N‑R26W, Dallas County (W ¼ Corner of Section 19‑T81N‑R25W, Polk County; thence north along the Dallas‑Polk County line to the Dallas‑Polk‑Boone County line at a point near the NE Corner Section 1‑T81N‑R26W, Dallas County (NW Corner Section 6‑T81N-R25W, Polk County) (SW Corner Section 31‑T82N‑R25W, Boone County). NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 17 in Dallas County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon adoption of this resolution.
