DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to the review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 39 in Crawford County should be deleted from the Primary System and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary Road System.

Iowa 39 begins at the junction of US 59 and Iowa 141 in Denison, Iowa and travels northerly and easterly to the Crawford‑Sac County line approximately 4 ½ miles northeast of Kiron, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 39 and its extension in Crawford County as follows:

Denison:

Beginning at the junction with US 59 and Iowa 141; thence in a northeasterly direction to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

Beginning on the north corporation line of the City of Denison, connecting with an unnamed street; thence in a northerly and northeasterly direction through Section 3‑T83N‑R39W and Sections 34, 35, 26, 23, 24, 13, and 12‑T84N‑R39W to a point approximately ¼ mile north of the SE Corner Section 12‑T84N‑R39W; thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 7 and 6‑T84N‑R38W; and Sections 31, 30, 19, 18, 7, and 6‑T85N‑R38W to a point approximately 1000 feet south of the NW Corner of Section 6‑T85N‑R38W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction to the Crawford‑Sac County line at a point approximately 1000 feet east of the NW Corner of Section 6‑T85N‑R38W, Crawford County (SW Corner Section 31‑T86N‑R38W, Sac County); thence easterly following substantially the Crawford‑Sac County line of Section 6 and Sections 5, 4, and 3‑T85N‑R38W to a point approximately 400 feet west of the N ¼ Corner of said Section 3‑T85N‑R38W, Crawford County (S ¼ Corner Section 34‑T86N‑R38W, Sac County).

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 39 in Crawford County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
