DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Due to its relocation, US 6 in Cedar County should be deleted from the primary road system and the new description added should be officially included in the primary road system.

 

US 6 begins on the Cedar‑Muscatine county line near the City of Wilton and proceeds northerly and easterly to the Cedar‑Scott County line approximately two miles north of the City of Durant.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the present description of US 6 in Cedar County from the primary road system and approve including the attached new description of US 6 in the primary road system.

 

Locate US 6 and its extensions in Cedar County as follows:

 

Beginning on the Cedar‑Muscatine county line at a point approximately 300 feet east of the SW Corner Section 36‑T79N‑R2W, Cedar County (300 feet east of the NW Corner Section 1‑T87N‑R2W, Muscatine County); thence in a northwesterly direction through Sections 36 and 25‑T79N‑R2W to a point approximately 800 feet north of the SW Corner Section 25‑T79N‑R2W; thence north following substantially the section line through 25 and 24‑T79N‑R2W to a point approxi­mately ¼ mile north of the W ¼ Corner said Section 24 (junction Interstate 80 and Iowa 38); thence south­easterly through Section 24‑T79N‑R2W to a point near the E ¼ Corner Section 24‑T79N‑R2W; thence east following substantially the center section line through Sections 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24‑T79N‑R1W to a point on the Cedar‑Scott Co. line approximately 2548 feet north of the SE Corner Section 24‑T79N‑R1W, Cedar County (SW Corner Section 19‑T79N‑R1E, Scott County).

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Records, US 6 in Cedar County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended that the old description of US 6 in Cedar County be deleted and the new description, as referred in the attached detailed description, be included in the Primary Road System effective upon the adoption of this resolution.

 

Locate US 6 and its extension in Cedar County as follows:

 

Beginning on the Cedar‑Muscatine County line at a point approximately 400 feet east of the S ¼ Corner Section 33‑T79N‑R1W, Cedar County (N ¼ Corner Section 4‑T78N‑R1W, Muscatine County); thence in a northeasterly and easterly direction along the north side of the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railway and substantially parallel thereto through Sections 33, 34, and 35‑T79N‑R1W to the west corporation line of the City of Durant connecting with an unnamed street.

 

Durant:

 

Beginning on the west corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence in an easterly direction to the Cedar‑Scott County line.
