DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑173‑1 (7)‑‑2M‑15, between Cass County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred county road M66 from Iowa 83 near the W ¼ Corner Section 36‑T77N‑R37W north to the Cass‑Shelby county line near the NW Corner Section 1-T77N-R37W to state jurisdiction on July 1, 1980. The section is now designated as Iowa 173.

 

Iowa 173 begins at the Iowa 83 approximately two miles northwest of the City of Atlantic and proceeds northerly approximately five and one‑half miles to the Cass‑Shelby county line.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the commission approve including the attached description of Iowa 173 in Cass County in the primary road system.

 

Locate Iowa 173 in Cass County as follows:

 

Beginning at a point near the W ¼ Corner Section 36‑T77N‑R37W (junction Iowa 83); thence northerly following substantially the section line of Sections 36, 25, 24, 13, 12 and 1-T77N-R37W (junction Interstate 80) to the Cass‑Shelby County line at a point near the NW Corner Section 1‑T77N‑R37W, Cass County (SW Corner Section 36‑T78N‑R37W, Shelby County).
