DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Unsigned Iowa 947 begins at Iowa 187 approximately four miles east of the City of Winthrop and travels easterly approximately two and one‑half miles to the Buchanan‑Delaware County line.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑947‑0 (10)‑‑2M‑10, between Buchanan County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Unsigned Iowa 947 from Iowa 187 near the N ¼ Corner Section 3‑T88N‑R7W easterly to the Buchanan‑Delaware County line near the SE Corner Section 36‑T89N‑R7W to county jurisdiction on June 30, 1980.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑947‑0 (10)‑‑2M‑10, between Buchanan County and the Iowa Department of Transportation and transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑947-0 (11)‑2M‑28, between Delaware County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Unsigned Iowa 947 from near the SE Corner Section 36‑T89N‑R7W easterly along the Buchanan‑Delaware County line to near the NE Corner Section 1‑T88N‑R7W to local jurisdiction on January 12, 1981.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the present description of Unsigned Iowa 947 in Buchanan County from the primary road system.

Remove Unsigned Iowa 947 in Buchanan County as follows:

Beginning at a point near the N ¼ Corner Section 3‑T88N‑R7W (junction Iowa 187); thence easterly following substantially the section line of Sections 3, 2 and 1‑T88N‑R7W to the Buchanan-Delaware County line at a point near the SE Corner Section 36-T89N‑R7W, Buchanan County (SW Corner Section 31‑T89N‑R6W, Delaware County); thence east along the Buchanan‑Delaware County line to a point near the NE Corner of Section 1‑T88N‑R7W Buchanan County (NW Corner of Section 6‑T88N‑R6W, Delaware County).

The new alignment of US 20 in Buchanan County has created Unsigned Iowa 947 and should be officially included in the State Primary System.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Unsigned Iowa 947 in Buchanan County as follows:

Beginning on the N ¼ Section line of Section 3‑T88N‑R7W with junction US 20 and Iowa 187; thence easterly following substantially the section line through Sections 3, 2, and 1‑T88N‑R7W to the Buchanan‑Delaware County line at a point near the SE Corner of Section 36‑T89N‑R7W, Buchanan County (SW Corner of Section 31‑T89N‑R6W, Delaware County); thence east along the Buchanan‑Delaware County line to a point near the NE Corner of Section 1‑T88N‑R7W, Buchanan County (NW Corner of Section 6‑T88N‑R6W, Delaware County).

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Unsigned Iowa 947 in Buchanan County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon adoption of this resolution.
