DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 281 begins at a point (south ramps of US 20) approximately 600 feet south of the W ¼ corner Section 8‑T88N‑R11W and travels north and east via the City of Dunkerton to the Black Hawk‑Buchanan County Line approximately eight miles northeast of the City of Dunkerton.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement numbers TJ‑281‑1 (17)‑‑2M‑07 and TJ‑281‑1 (18)‑‑2M‑07 between Black Hawk County and the Iowa Department of Transportation transferring that portion of Iowa 281 from the east corporation line of the City of Waterloo near the N ¼ Corner Section 28‑T89N‑R12W easterly to a point approximately 250 feet north of the SE Corner Section 20‑T89N‑R11W (County Road V‑51) to county jurisdiction on January 1, 1984 and transferring County Road V‑51 from a point approximately 250 feet north of the SE Corner Section 20‑T89N‑R11W south to the south ramp of relocated US 20 approximately 600 feet south of the W ¼ Corner Section 8‑T88N‑R11W to state jurisdiction on January 1, 1984.

Due to Interstate substitution funding not obtained transfer of jurisdiction agreement numbers TJ‑281‑1 (18) ‑‑2M‑07 and J‑281‑1 (17) ‑‑2M‑07 was declared null and void. The official description of Iowa 281 should be revised to reflect this change. The remainder of Iowa 281 in Black Hawk County remains unchanged.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to approve deleting the present description of Iowa 281 in Black Hawk County from the Primary Road System and approve including the attached new description of Iowa 281 in the Primary Road System.

Iowa 281 begins at US 20 in the City of Waterloo and proceeds easterly, northerly and easterly via the City of Dunkerton to the Black Hawk‑Buchanan County line approximately eight miles northeast of the City of Dunkerton.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑281‑1 (14) between the City of Waterloo and the Iowa Department of Transportation transferred that portion of Iowa 281 from US 20 to the east corporate limits of the City of Waterloo to City jurisdiction on December 1, 1983. The present description of Iowa 281 should be deleted and a new description included in the primary road system to reflect this change of jurisdiction. The remainder of Iowa 281 in Black Hawk County remains unchanged.

The section is now designated Iowa 281.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑281‑0 (11) ‑‑2M‑07, between Black Hawk County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred the section of county road V3C from the north corporation line of the City of Dunkerton north and east to the Black Hawk‑Buchanan County line near the E ¼ Corner of the NE ¼ of Section 1‑T90N‑R11W to state jurisdiction on July 1, 1980. The section is now designated Iowa 281.
