DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:
Iowa 198 begins in the City of Garrison, and travels
northerly approximately 2 ½ miles to US 218.
Transfer of
jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑198‑0 (2), between the City of
Garrison and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of
Iowa 198 in the City of Garrison from old Railroad Street north, east and north
to the north corporation line to city jurisdiction on August 4, 1980.
PROPOSAL/ACTION
RECOMMENDATION:
It is
recommended the commission approve deleting the present description of Iowa 198 in Benton
County from the primary road system
and approve including the attached new description of Iowa 198 in the primary road system.

review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa
198 in Benton County, Iowa should be deleted and the new
description added should be officially included into the Primary System.
Iowa 198 begins in the City of Garrison and travels
northerly to the junction with US 218 approximately 5 miles west of Vinton.
PROPOSAL/ACTION
RECOMMENDATION:
Locate Iowa 198 and its extension in Benton County
as follows:
Garrison:
Beginning on
Railroad Street
northerly to Barkdoll Street; thence east on Main Street; thence
north to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.
Beginning on
the north corporation line of the City of Garrison connecting with an unnamed
street; thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 28,
21, and 16‑T85N‑R11W to a point near the NW Corner of Section 16‑T85N‑R11W
(intersection US 218).
NOW,
THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve
the location of Iowa 198 in Benton County, Iowa.
NOTE: To
become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
