DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Interstate 380 was opened to traffic to an interchange with Iowa 101 north of Urbana August 14, 1984. In conjunction with this opening Iowa 101 should be re-designated as Iowa 150 and the portion of old Iowa 150 from the Benton‑Linn County line west to an intersection with old Iowa 101 and Iowa 150 should be re-designated as unsigned Iowa 920. The description of Iowa 150 in Benton County should be revised to reflect these re-designations.

 

Iowa 150 begins at a junction with US 218 in the City of Vinton and proceeds northerly, easterly and northerly via the City of Vinton to the Benton‑Buchanan County line approximately five (5) miles north of the City of Urbana.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended to approve revising the description of Iowa 150 in Benton County and including the new description in the Primary Road System.


 

New Description ‑ Iowa 150 and its extension in Benton County described as follows:

 

Vinton:

 

Beginning on "C" Avenue at its junction with US 218; thence northerly on "C" Avenue to Third Street; thence east on Third Street to First Avenue; thence north on First Avenue to the north corporation line.

 

Beginning at the north corporation line of the City of Vinton connecting with First Avenue; thence northerly through Sections 16 and 9‑T85N‑R10W to a point approximately ¼ mile south of the N ¼ Corner Section 9‑T85N‑R10W; thence north following substantially the quarter line through Sections 9 and 4‑T85N‑R10W, continuing north through Section 33‑T86N‑R10W to a point approximately 1,000 feet south of the N ¼ Corner Section 33‑T86N‑R10W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 1,000 feet east of the N ¼ Corner Section 33‑T86N‑R10W; thence east following substantially the section line of Sections 33, 34, 35, and 36‑T86N‑R10W; thence continuing east along section line of Sections 31, 32, and 33 to a point approximately 600 feet west of the SE Corner Section 28‑T86N‑R9W; thence curving in a northeasterly direction to a point approximately 600 feet north of the SE Corner of Section 28‑T86N‑R9W; thence north following substantially the section line of Sections 27, 22, 15, 10, and 3‑T86N‑R9W to the Benton‑Buchanan County line at a point near the NW Corner Section 3‑T86N‑R9W, Benton County (SW Corner Section 34‑T87N‑R9W, Buchanan County).

Due to a review of our Primary Road System records, Iowa 150 in Benton County, Iowa should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

 

Iowa 150 begins at the Benton‑Linn County line approximately 4 miles north and 3 miles east of Urbana and travels west and north to the Benton­ Buchanan County line approximately 5 miles north of Urbana.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

Locate Iowa 150 in Benton County as follows:

 

Beginning at the Benton‑Linn County line at a point near the NE Corner of Section 12‑T86N‑R9W, Benton County (NW Corner Section 7‑T86N‑R8W, Linn County); thence west following substantially the section line of Sections 12, 11, and 10‑T86N‑R9W to a point approximately 1000 feet east of the NW Corner of Section 10‑T86N‑R9W; thence curving in a north­westerly direction through Section 3‑T86N‑R9W to a point approximately 1000 feet north of the SW Corner of Section 3‑T86N‑R9W (junction Iowa 101); thence north following substantially the section line to the Benton‑Buchanan County line at a point near the NW Corner of Section 3‑T86N‑R9W, Benton County (SW Corner of Section 34‑T87N‑R9W, Buchanan County).

 

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 150 in Benton County, Iowa.

 

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
