DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Iowa 216 begins approximately four miles south of the City of Centerville and travels easterly to the City of Exline.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑216‑0 (2), between Appanoose County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 216 from Iowa 5 approximately 750 feet north and 280 feet west of the SE Corner Section 25-T68N-R18W easterly to the west corporation line of the City of Exline to county jurisdiction on February 3, 1981.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑216‑0 (3), between the City of Exline and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 216 from the west corporation line southeasterly and easterly to the east line of First Street to city jurisdiction on February 6, 1981.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve deleting the attached description of Iowa 216 in Appanoose County from the primary road system.

Remove Iowa 216 in Appanoose County as follows:

Beginning at a point (junction Iowa 5) about 750 feet north and 280 feet west of the SE Corner Section 25-T68N‑R18W; thence southeasterly through Section 25-T68N-R18W and Section 30‑T68N‑R17W to the south line of Section 30-T68N-R17W about one‑quarter mile east of the SW Corner said Section 30; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Section 31‑T68N‑R17W to the west corporation line of the City of Exline connecting with an unnamed street.

Exline:

Beginning at the west corporation line, connecting with an unnamed street; thence southeasterly and easterly to the east line of First Street.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Due to a review of our Primary Road System Iowa 216 in Appanoose County should be deleted and the new description added should be officially included into the Primary System.

Iowa 216 begins at Iowa 5 approximately 1 mile NW of Exline and travels generally southeasterly to a point in Exline, Iowa.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

Locate Iowa 216 and its extension in Appanoose County as follows:

Beginning at a point (junction Iowa 5) about 750 feet north and 280 feet west of the SE Corner Section 25‑T68N-R18W; thence southeasterly through Section 25‑T68N‑R18W and Section 30‑T68N‑R17W to the south line of Section 30‑T68N‑R17W about ¼ mile east of the SW Corner said Section 30; thence easterly following substantially the section line of Section 31‑T68N‑R17W to the west corporation line of the City of Exline connecting with an unnamed street.

Exline:

Beginning at the west corporation line, connecting with an unnamed street; thence southeasterly and easterly to the east line of First Street.

NOW, THEREFORE: Be it resolved that the Iowa Department of Transportation approve the location of Iowa 216 in Appanoose County, Iowa.

NOTE: To become effective upon the adoption of this resolution.
