DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number 2003-TJ-017, between Appanoose County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 142 from the S ¼ Corner NE ¼ Section 28-T69N-R19W (junction Iowa 2); thence northerly through said Section 28 to the south corporation line of Plano connecting with 1st Street to county jurisdiction on May 1, 2003.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number 2003-TJ-019, between the city of Plano and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 142 from the south corporation line connecting with 1^st Street; thence northerly on 1st Street to the north corporation line to city jurisdiction on May 1, 2003.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number 2003-TJ-017, between Appanoose County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Iowa 142 from the north corporation line of Plano connecting with 1st Street; thence northerly and northeasterly through Sections 21 and 16-T69N-R19W to a point approximately 900 feet north of the SE Corner Section 16-T69N-R19W; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Sections 15, 10, and 3-T69N-R19W to a point approximately 400 feet south of the NW Corner Section 3-T69N-R19W; thence generally northerly through Section 4-T69N-R19W and Sections 33, 28, 27, 22, 21, and 16-T70N-R19W to a point approximately 800 feet north of the S ¼ Corner NE ¼ Section 16-T70N-R19W; thence in a northeasterly direction through Sections 16, 15, and 10-T70N-R19W to a point approximately 500 feet south of the NW Corner Section 11-T70N-R19W; thence northerly following substantially the section line of Sections 11 and 2-T70N-R19W to a point near the W ¼ Corner said Section 2; thence easterly following substantially the center section line of Sections 2 and 1-T70N-R19W, Sections 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1-T70N-R18W, and Sections 6 and 5-T70N_R17W to a point approximately 150 feet west of the E ¼ Corner Section 5-T70N-R17W (junction Iowa 5) to county jurisdiction on May 1, 2003.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended to approve deleting the present description of Iowa 142 and its extensions in Appanoose County from the Primary Road System.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑000‑0 (1)‑‑2M‑4 between Appanoose County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred the section of road from a junction with Iowa 2 near the S ¼ Corner of the NE ¼ of Section 28‑T69N‑R19W north to the south corporation line of the City of Plano and from the north corporation line of the City of Plano northerly, northeasterly and easterly to a junction with Iowa 5 near the E ¼ Corner Section 5‑T70N‑R17W to state jurisdiction on August 6, 1980. The section is now designated Iowa 142.

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number TJ‑000‑0 (2)‑‑2M‑4, between the City of Plano and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred the section of road on First Street from the south corporation line northerly to the north corporation line to state jurisdiction on August 6, 1980. The section is now designated Iowa 142.

Iowa 142 begins at a junction with Iowa 2 approximately eight miles west of the City of Centerville and proceeds northerly, northeasterly and easterly via the City of Plano to a junction with Iowa 5 at the City of Moravia.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended the commission approve including the attached description of Iowa 142 in Appanoose County in the primary road system.

Locate Iowa 142 and its extension in Appanoose County as follows:
